Am I the only one who thinks Emmerdale are re-writing the Whites somewhat especially since Rebecca's arrival?

Rebecca was often mentioned by Lawrence, Chrissie, Robert and Lachlan in the past and there was never any hint of animosity between the (half) sisters. Obviously Robert has been long established as a self centred manipulative cheater so I'm not struggling too much with the part that he'd sleep with Chrissie's sister; more so this new uber cow version of Chrissie. Initially they were playing this as her evolving into this character because of everything she's been through in the village but dialogue from both Rebecca and Robert is indicating she was always this way yet that wasn't portrayed onscreen at all. Also how can Rebecca still hold a torch after all these years to the degree that she'd destroy Chrissie, send Lachlan to prison and risk giving her own father another heart attack from the stress of it all?

Don't get me wrong I like the set of characters - I just feel this progression hasn't been a natural one....and don't get me started on Aaron, Chas & Andy being all ok with Robert after he killed Katie. I don't believe Robert murdered her, I do think it was accidental, but all three are aware that he tormented her leading up to that fateful night and has shown such a lack of remorse since then.

On another note...I laugh a little whenever I see Robert & Nicola in a scene together...seem to have forgotten their night of passion from years back!

It's been hinted at throughout that Chrissie has always had a ruthless streak and she has always gone to extreme lengths for revenge.

There is the mystery of whatever she did to Lachlan's father in order to get revenge on him. The time she locked Robert in a barn and poured "oil" (really it was water) in order to scare Robert and show him what she was capable of.

Then of course when she actually set fire to his car that exploded and the devastating consequences of that.

So while I think men cheating on her has made her harder and less caring as to what others think, it seems she has always had a nasty side.
