Jays.
Surely if they die in an accident the livers will be donated to the top of the transplant list. Would be too much of a co-incidence to go to him. What's her face the copper would have him for murder |

I wonder how many viewers will be going:
"oh no, Phil can't DIE!" (like TPTB might be expecting). ...compared to how many will be yelling: "die ya miserable b**stard!" ![]() Phil won't be going anywhere will he? This time next year he'll be back to normal and drinking whisky in the Vic still pretending he's the hardest man in Walford lol! Personally I think that killing him off would be a very brave decision, I mean what more can happen to him that hasn't already? But I also think that Phil stifles the characters around him nowadays, it would be nice to see how they get on without him but it's not going to happen when we're already losing
Spoiler
I stil think that Steve McFadden is one of EE's best actors though. |

Love your second option lotty. It would make my year if he died.
They couldn't have come up with a less dramatic s/l if they'd tried. Even Kim's driving test will have me on the edge of my seat in comparison.😨 |

Phil's superhuman liver would never allow it.

![]() bib just Aaron and Keyser Would will he shoot his liver out of his arse at the bloke? This time next year he will be swilling whiskey and beating up entire regiments of the SAS with one hand tied behind his back and blindfolded. I am past caring anymore. |

The producers must think we're the most gullible viewers alive.
There's no point giving Phil a life-threatening storyline anymore because we all know he will walk out of it alive. He is half-human, half-teflon. I would argue there's a better chance of Phil coming out as gay than him ever dying.

I think I would really like Phil once again if they actually wrote him as an actual human being rather than some untouchable 'God' like figure who is a utter bastard to everyone and is fueled by bitterness. The term "if it ain't broke don't fix it" was perfectly apt to Phil back when he was a great character.

Anything is possible but given reactions over the years to big characters being killed off (Pat) I doubt they would just kill him off and I reckon if the higher ups in the drama department ever got whiff that's what was happening against Steve's wishes they would sack SOC.

All the other legends were treated like the shit on someones shoe - only the Mitchells (like the utterly repulsive screeching banshee) were immune. EE was once an ensemble piece where everyone even the iconic characters (Den/Angie/Lou/Pauline/Arthur etc) were treated all the same. Not in the 21st century. Why not rename the show f*****g Philthenders and have done with it?

I'm surprised TPTB don't realise how boring it is to have a storyline about a character "dying" when every single viewer knows it won't happen.

Take a look at Phil in happier times:

I'll miss ya, Phil.

Oh and his heart, still beating, breaking out of his body and flying away like a bat out of hell. Boring. Boring. Boring.

It would be brave to kill him off, but currently utterly useless. There is nobody that has the hard man image he portrays so well, albeit old and dying. They tried bringing Vincent in as the hard man, and it just didn't work, Ben has his angry outbursts but doesn't compare mentally or physically, they even tried it with Mick, but all he can manage is an evil look and some rhyming slang.
Perhaps I'm just wanting the show to be back at its best as was seen IMO during the 2000s, Phil financially well off and owning 'the square' along with his rivalry mainly with Ian, but also with Steve. Ian with his businesses, eventually being overstretched and him going bankrupt, the rivalry with Steve over many things - women/money/etc. That just isn't being fulfilled right now, and whilst he isn't exactly in fighting fitness as he was then, and the same goes for Ian, they are both at least a link to that past that just has no replacement just yet. |
