Jack Taylor Ch5,
Did anyone watch this, first of 3 stories? Thought it was good, easy detective story to follow and a great two hours.

I almost didn't bother as read a review today of the very first episode from 2010 saying it was rubbish. Glad I did though. There were 3 episodes then, 3 in 2013 and there are three this year. Haven't seen it before though, as far as I can recall.

I presume this is based on the life of Stockton born cycle frame maker Jack Taylor and his crime-fighting adventures in and around Teesside, chasing criminals down on one of his own finely crafted braised and lugged cycles.

Have this recorded to watch later. Love this show. Iain Glen is fab, my only problem is he has more of a Dublin accent than Galway. My Mum was from Galway so I am well versed on that accent.

he came out of hiding after plastic surgery in a quest to emulate his hero, and became a neil diamond tribute act , but fell foul of a rival gang of neil sedaka impersonators..........the story continues.......... |

don't be daft, it's english referee jack taylor, been in hiding since the 1970s when the netherlands issued a death warrant on him when he awarded w. germany an iffy penalty in the 1974 world cup final.

Third one last night, think that's it for this run. Enjoyed them all, some excellent acting. Hope it returns and that jack and Kate get back together.

All three were excellent - I did wince a bit during the second episode. Shame they have finished.

Judging by the titles it appears to be a German co-production.
Not quite Irish noir, it's dark enough, but they can't resist a gag or two. |
