Who's voting for Louise? All those rich footballing pals of her hubby of course.

I must admit I'm glad to see the back of Greg and Nat. As individuals I like both but as a dancing couple there's something about the woodshed going on, something toxic and soul cloying

I enjoyed the backing dancers this year. The only routine I thought was overshadowed was Ed and Katya's because the side by sides and exchanges really spotlighted Ed's limitations as a dancer. When it's just Ed and Katya his personality and enthusiasm shine through in a way that didn't happen last night.

I was half expecting him to be in the DO. It suggests that he and Judgie arehoovering up the public vote

Claudia cannot have been in the top 4 of the public vote and been in the DO. If she finished 5th then the only way she would have been in the DO is if Danny was 6th and Greg 7th which is unlikely.

Therefore it is reasonable to assume Claudia was either 6th or 7th in the public vote. If Claudia was 6th then Ed had to be in the top 3 and if Claudia was 7th then the top 4.”

I am certain that Ed is NOT in the top 2 of the public vote, I would put him 4th after Danny, Louise and Judge Rinder in that order. At the very best, he is third.
What name??

I'm curious to see Claudias dance again. If it's the same and not corrected then I think AJ was at fault. If it is better then she didn't recover from the mistake at the beginning but I will still think his inexperience is showing.

I wasn't it's a phrase a sarcastic good for you. I wondered why that was being dredged up then I clocked it I'm showing my age not my true colours and whilst x isn't rude to fellow posters I don't like their tone talking about people and I stand by gloating. I hate that and am NOT guilty of it myself.

Yes it was probably Greg's turn to go although it should have been Ed IMO bit hey ho I'm not going to insult people who vote for him. I just hope he doesn't knock out JR. I find x's intense dislike of him hard to stomach as I did his of Greg and I find I can agree with it although perhaps it's a taste of my own meds I've disliked intensely some previous contestants.

Read through all of this thread which has taken an hour.

The pro v anti Ed Ball's posters take it very seriously, don't they?

As Tess might say-

Keeeeeeep bitching!

Judge Ringer, I mean Rinder to go next week- then Ed after that.

For those of us who prefer the comedy duffer gone, it is a very encouraging sign that the Ed backlash is clearly beginning. It has been almost all one way traffic of total praise for his incompetent but supposedly ''entertaining'' dancing up until now. Many people are now starting to change opinions and think it is time he should go.

This is the first time the judges have sent home a male celeb.

Mind you it's only the second chance they've had.

To be fair, he's by far the best dancer who is also the comedy turn. It's not like he doesn't dance the relevant steps for each dance.

From the ratings thread for last night

Strictly 10.97 million

X Factor 6.13 million.

Not far off a 5 million gap now.

So, Ed Balls, a corrupt politician who fiddled expenses from public money and demanded a recount because he couldn't accept he'd lost his seat is an angel! I bet you are the first to complain about MP's fiddling their expenses. Yet he you are, complaining about a woman who drives a 4 x 4 yet perfectly condoning a would-be fraudster! The mind boggles.

Ed could have ended up in 5th place with 3rd highest of the Public Vote

7th Greg: 3+1=4
6th Claudia: 5+2=7
5th Ed: 2+5=7
4th JR: 4+4=8
3rd Louise: 6+3=9
2nd Ore: 6+6=12
1st Danny: 7+7=14

The producers have actually quite deliberately tried to crank up the comedy value with Ed (as they have with Rinder) in the staging, props and the song choices which lend themselves to comedy routines. So, they are majorly responsible. If they had not introduced all these elements and Ed had not taken on the comedy duffer mantle, but just was a usual bad dad dancer doing the same type of non-over the top routines as the others, his popularity would not have soared in the way it has and I suspect he would indeed have been one of those voted out in the earliest weeks as people would have found him boring. Don't underestimate the song choices and staging in all of this.

Well his salsa had practically no salsa content - Karen Hardy remarked on that. Considering Craig made a big deal of saying Greg's rhumba was not really a rhumba he kept very quiet about Ed's salsa.

Last night there is no way Ed's jive was any such thing. Yes he danced but it was not a jive.

Why? I voted for Louise. Because I think she took on board the judges comments about plateauing, she overcomes her lack of confidence and actually listens intently to what she is being taught. I think she is a quiet person naturally, does not hog the limelight in papers every other day and keeps herself to herself. I also think Kevin Clifton is an awesome choreographer and each time they dance it is like watching a west end show.

For me there was a lot of Jive content (Ian already remarked on that on ITT this week). And he was not that much worse at executing it then Claudia was (certainly not 5 marks apart, as Craig has us believe).

I agree. Ed, Greg and, supposedly, Judge Rinder, were the ones with NO dance experience (not sure I believe that about Judge Rinder). I guess Ed was always likely to be the worst so he became the comedy act. Greg though has improved and hasn't even had the help of any comedy, not that I would want to see him go that route.

Of course people have the right to vote for who they like but I really don't understand the love for Ed and yet not Greg. Both try hard every week, both have improved and Greg has improved far more than Ed and yet it is Ed who is getting through and getting lots of praise on here for his improvement, being a nice guy etc. I think Greg is a nice guy, nicer in my view than Ed. Greg is modest and seems a bit shy. I think he deserved more praise than he got both from the judges and some on here

Maybe there was meant to be jive content but Ed certainly did NOT jive. It was even worse than the awful supposed jive done by Peter Andre. I think my dog could jive better than either of them.

I don't mind Ed and have enjoyed some of his dances but last night he was pretty bad and I didn't find him entertaining and he did not jive

They could have sent Greg home last week and Ore the week before so if you include last night it's three chances they've had ( and they would have had a fourth if it wern't for the Anastasia dance off debacle).

John Sergeant was useless and he kept being voted in week after week. If he hadn't packed in when he did I guess he would have gone a lot further in fact. He was far worse than Ed Balls.
