Posted by our very own jonmorris in the EE thread, but I felt this deserved it's own thread for discussion / questions.

Have to wait and see! It'll be good to see how people find it / how it improves in the real world

Given BT owns EE they should get rolling this out to their own BT Mobile customers. Probably won't in the short term but they should.

I wonder if the same could be said for Virgin Mobile? Or will they ever only have 1800MHz 4G?

It's in EE's and the MVNOs' best interest to have VoLTE and thus 800 as soon as they can to lower the 3G load but who knows when that will be.

I am very excited about this announcement. I really hope my area with the power turned up has great coverage now. Low-power 800MHz certainly isn't too shabby.

If it's good, it's goodbye Vodafone come May.

Same for Virgin I believe. As M* says it's in EE's best interest to get everyone on their network on VoLTE etc

I'm pretty sure I've been picking up 800MHz here and there on my BT SIM.

I wish they'd get a move on and do VoLTE/VoWiFi though. My phone is compatible with EE's VoLTE.

I don't understand this article? 4G 800Mhz is already live on many sites now? does this mean EVERY 4G enabled site will now magically broadcast 800Mhz too?

Only the sites that are cabled up for L08 will broadcast it. Quite a lot of sites will still be L18 until L08 is cabled up.

Not at all, it's very easy. Check out a previous video I've done on EE 800MHz which features a recognition guide for working out whether EE or 3 800MHz or both. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec3ygr4nINg

So should I be flashing EVR firmware back on my S7. Or will the Nougat Beta that already has VOLTE access be supported!?

Im guessing Note 7 ROM ports for the S7 wouldn't see it then? On either BTU or EVR firmware?

Not sure mate I signed up for the beta program and didn't lose any apps

But it is Beta so expect bugs and be prepared to reset to factory if things don't work

Ie gear vr doesn't work In beta

If you're currently on any ROM that isn't BTU you won't be able to upgrade directly, you'll need to flash BTU via ODIN and you will lose data, as you'll need a factory reset to change the CSC to BTU.

If you're on BTU marshmallow, the upgrade to nougat BTU wont lose any data.
