But Jon, that's not the modern way!

Get incredibly angry and wound up, and scream and shout about it on all forms of social media, that's how things are done nowadays.

Waiting a day or two and excercising some patience... get real! Now now now! Waa waa waa!
If the coverage maps aren't updated in the next 15 minutes, I'm going postal on EE's ass!

A mate of mine came over with his swanky new iphone 7 plus and I mentioned that EE have rolled out 800mhz so was not expecting much from a speed test however.

Normally 4g in my house is below 2mbit down and 0.5 up now it's 2 to 3 bars (better than 1 or 2) and 40 down 20 up which is not much slower than vodafone on full 4g signal where I get 50 down 20 up.

Now wondering if my google pixel phone supports 800mhz?
The iPhone Pluses tend to have better reception than most small to large android phones on 4G. the non-plus iPhones are still pretty mediocre. Not 800.

Since when has EE done things at midnight.... 10am if the relevant person gets his coffee, midday if he/she doesn't.

I've already contacted my MP. This is clearly unacceptable!

Yes, the map bit was giving me an error around 0010. I assume there's an update in the works.

Map works until you select double speed or 4G+ so I guess (hope) there will soon be an option to specifically show with/without 800. Fingers crossed, as that would be so much nicer than having to change phone as on Three.

I have an iPhone. How can I check if I'm using 800mhz? In my gym I always used to get no reception whatsoever on EE. But yesterday it now shows 2 dots of 4G.

If it's not a 7 or 7 Plus, use Field Test Mode. Type: *3001#12345#* (with the asterisk). Then go to Serving Cell Info. Frequency 3 is 1800mhz 7 is 2600mhz and 20 is 800mhz.

No point complaining to your MP, I'm going right to the top. I'm complaining to God (or Santa as he is known this time of year).

The 800 layer map tiles have been updated, but i cant see anything to allow them to be selected through the site itself, only the console command (in chrome at least) changeCoverageOverlay("4g_800_ltea",true) will turn them on.

Just done the school run (rural area). Normally 4G around 40% of time, now over 80% of time. That's happened over the last day or so.

Seems to just show the same coverage as non-double speed/4G+ for me, but in a more solid colour.

So either it's not working for me, or the places I'm checking haven't got 800 yet.

I didn't say they had been updated to the correct 800 coverage

That's what I saw earlier this morning as well, something has changed but it's not correct (yet)

Ah, well that's quite a relief then.

I think at this point the best everyone can do is forget about 800 and wait for someone else to announce because they kept checking every 10 seconds and forgot to do any work, pick up the kids from school, go shopping, breathe...

It's like waiting in for a delivery. It won't happen when you keep looking out the window, but go to the toilet or get in the bath...

EDITED..

If you have an iPhone that's anything other than an iPhone 7 or 7+...
Make sure you have a 4G signal.
Go to the dialler and enter *3001#12345#* then tap send.
Tap "Serving cell info"
Freq Band Indicator will show 20 for 800MHz, 3 for 1800MHz and 7 for 2600MHz

If you have a 7, you're a bit stuffed. field test doesn't work due to new Intel modem.
