But I think we need some perspective on this. There must have been something seriously wrong for it not to launch on time. Better done right than botched. They've most definitely planned this switch on for months and having to delay, after going public with launch dates, must have been EE's marketing department's absolute nightmare! They haven't intentionally misled their customers, they've done this at absolute last resort to prevent causing us connectivity issues. Hats off to them for putting quality over marketing advantage is what I say! Many companies would have done it the other way around.

Perhaps they should have got their ducks in a row and soft launched like they did with VoLTE before singing it from the rooftops, but I'm sure it's EE marketing department that got excited and wanted to announce prematurely.

Patience will be rewarded...
Agree with you Adrian. EE should have done soft 4G800 launch and everything would have been fine by now

The fact VoLTE was soft launched so long before suggests there are many issues, and I did say I had various issues a week ago (silence, white noise, twanging noises on calls) so maybe they hit on some issues that forced a delay.

Or maybe it's as simple as the provisioning process failing and that's all that needs to be fixed.

Yip, exactly who know what the hold-up is? But I will say for myself is that I appreciate EE having the balls to hold it back until its ready. #Threetakenote

So why was I getting band 20 last wednesday morning 2 bars. Then 2 days later nothing but EE person today told me that the mast broadcasting 4G800 is faulty and will be fixed soon and I will be picking again band 20. Area is RG9 5LP and the nearest 4G800 mast is in Nettlebed. I have a pic which I took with my Iphone. How can I show it. Even made a call but data did not work

I'm struggling with your argument Georgi. It's not working as it's should so it's been delayed. Perhaps the representative you spoke to wasn't privy to some of the information we now have. You're clearly upset about this delay, but you should remember that this is a first world problem and things can get much worse than delayed 800mhz 4G. Things happen and things go wrong.

Because mobile networks are very fluid creatures and sometimes things don't go to plan, as others have said it's much better to delay and launch the service properly than make it live and hope for the best.

Patience is a virtue

Also I am sure it will be before Santa, everyone has the patience to wait for him...

It's like a flight that's uncomfortable and delayed. You moan at the time but once you land and step off, all is forgotten.

Which is what will happen here when it finally goes live for all.

It won't be an event you'll even remember in a few months or tell to your grand children.

'I remember when EE delayed 800MHz by a day or two. We really suffered then and some called for EE to be shut down and fined millions of pounds for all the inconvenience caused'.

I can try and find out what the problem was, but I never expected it to launch this side of Christmas so a day or two (heck, even next week) isn't going to bother me that much.

Jon you are wright. We will all have forgotten after sometimes. It is just now all this happening and of course every one(or a lot of EE customers) is excited about it.

Christmas 2017 you mean : "Another 3,000 sites will be equipped with the low frequency spectrum before the end of 2017."
If you say so..

Because they can allow everyone in the local area to join the 800 mast if they wish for testing purposes. They then can do it on an account/phone basis..

As they did with VoLTE, originally just iOS users in a handful of locations.

As I have said before, 800 would not have been restricted back then so all devices and accounts could access it (not what they want when it will exceed CSFB coverage…)

You can't go making judgments from a service that isn't even publicly live yet.

I've also had the silence in calls problem, once on VoLTE, and once when it decided to switch from Wi-Fi to VoLTE. I barely ever make calls so it's a bit worrying, though I've never actually had a call blocked or dropped. Hope they aren't halting 800 because of these issues

I make hardly any calls either, so when it was happening it was about 50% of all the calls that day!

Can't complain too much though as I intended to report it and then got tied up on other things.

I would hope they noticed though, given my site is on the roof of their headquarters.

Might have to continue being patient - EE aren't launching all their 800 MHz sites in one go anyway, so yours might be later.
