and has more than one "e" in its name, iirc
Seems to be a wind up merchant with no real inside info if you look for actual facts. Just saying....

To give jo_m1 a clue, The Lord's employer is a company providing mobile phone service
Ok haha!

However I still would be surprised if EE increases the number of L800 sites from 700 to 3000 in a month!

It's mad to think that Three launched with nearly 1400 sites over a year ago.

Three 'launched' in December 2013, but most people weren't provisioned until February or March I seem to recall.

Just got a Moto G3 for network testing. Found lots more 800 here, though can't register on any of it, seems to all be VoLTE restricted or something (unlike before) - so I used NSG to find band 20 neighbours and have noted down the PCI's, although since there's only a limited number of PCI's it's quite difficult to accurately find the masts.

Still, I'm glad I've found lots more now, hopefully it'll be good when powered up and launched - I wonder if any of the ones here will be included in the launch, I guess I'll just have to wait and see Can't wait

Presumably mobile phone transmitter sites require Ofcom RF compliance tests before they're taken into service ? That's certainly the case with broadcast TV and radio.

I'm pretty sure TV & radio have much higher transmitter power.

You can still break something if you set the cell site up incorrectly, like interfering with another mobile network operator.

I would have thought that Ofcom inspections would be a bit "bureaucratic" though. In a day and age where cell sites can be reconfigured in minutes from an office hundreds of miles away, I can't see Ofcom or an approved agent trudging out to check every time a change occurs.

At least with TV and radio transmitters fewer changes happen, and of course there are fewer transmitters to begin with

Only the main stations. Many of the relays are just a few watts, what the max ERP for a typical cell site, 100-200 watts ?

No it was that Three delayed things and said they had only launched to testers, which wasn't really true (testing had been done before). They simply had to delay and it turned out to be far longer than I imagine EE will make us wait.

The sites themselves had been up and running for some time previous.

Had a call from EE today to tell me the mast around Woodcote is up and running and he confirmed that mast broadcast 4G800. I told him about me not picking it and he told me to call EE from a landline on Monday when I am in the area and they will tell me exactly what the issue is running diagnostics on my phone. So I will give it a try and they may provision my account and get me on to 4G800.

I really can't see them specifically provisioning you tbh.

Bad or worse everyone has an opinion. No need to comment on that one if you do not want to or if it is worse

Is it likely the CS agents even have access to the 800MHz map now? Do they get different information to the consumer?

I know from Vodafone at least, that the consumers often knew stuff before the agents did!

Yes Gigabit the agent told me how many masts around the post code were broadcasting 4G800. He told me where I live the mast is not giving 4G800. Each post code I gave him he told me if the masts near were having 4G800. As a proof he sent me text message so he said he is sure about what he sees on his system as it is different to the coverage checker on the EE website

Yes but he could say that about any postcode. I'm not trying to dispute what you said it just seems unlikely to me somehow.

I dont know but he said calls are recorded and when I call next time to give reference he gave me. Even I received text message as a proof the mast broadcasts lte800

it does get worse.. people actually believe what CSAs say.

They also shouldn't be giving that sort of info out.. if true.

Look I am just sharing here what happened to me. Nothing else. If anyone is annoyed about it just ignore it. I am not as educated as many members here but just share what I see. This forum is for everybody to share experience and opinion

Missed this update last week, not sure it's been posted before (below). So the improvements I've seen in 1 area look like just a new mast:
