Made another couple of test calls over 4G. All seems to be working well now. I did notice however the iPhone liked to drop down to 2G mid call where as my Pixel would drop. Back to 3G. Still very impressive and seamless with no dropped calls
For those of you that are interested, the Pixel seems to have the edge over an iPhone 7 for 4G reception. The Pixel will hold on to a weak 4G signal where in the same spot, the iPhone has dropped back to 3G. Maybe the effect of this is why the above happens. |

I did a factory reset on my S7 Edge as it was stuck on rebooting over and over.
As soon as I did VoLTE came up next to the 4G icon. When calling someone HD is displayed on the phonecall. It was very clear and never dropped once. My wife has a S7 but she hasn't had an update yet. |

The latest update for the Pixel apparently fixes some LTE issues in the US. I wonder if there will be any changes that might affect EE?
I have reported the problems I've had by the way, but as yet haven't had any feedback. I'll be seeing EE at their Christmas party next week and will have a few questions to ask then. Especially if it isn't all up and running by then! |

Is it worth changing the title to "year", or would that be a bit optimistic?

![]() ![]() A week tomorrow from when they announced it would be live. I admit it could be now and I simply haven't noticed any but I doubt it. Anyone else think it's now "account provisioning" issues - I could have accepted a day or two delay for that but considering how bloody long they've been preparing for it to fall at the last hurdle would be inexcusable for EE, both internally and externally. Pressure could have been enormous to get it running and they announced too early? To borrow a phrase from Devonbloke - Answers on a postcard! |

Decade might be slightly more realistic

What could the problem be? ![]() Account provisioning? Maybe... But it takes too long. Mast still being tested for LTE 800? Could be that they still haven't released it to everyone. Barely in range? I can't tell with the iPhone field test. We shall see in the coming days...

I will be meeting EE next week and will try and find out, but they've hardly rushed things. I think that given reported issues with VoLTE on 1800/2600, they put a stop on the provisioning of users to avoid more issues - and my personal guess is that it relates to issues with fallback, and 800 will make this worse because the whole idea is that 800 gives coverage where 3G and even 2G doesn't exist.
Provisioning accounts is a quick process so I don't think it's that. I may of course be wrong, but the majority of EE users won't have a clue anyway. Few people understand what VoLTE is, let alone why they need it. And if they have 4G today, saying 'ah, but you can get 4G on 800MHz' isn't going to help as they'll just think 'And?'. Customers will notice when they see improved coverage, and once they do it won't be acceptable for them to start finding calls drop. Instead of being impressed, they'll be saying 'it was so much better before EE messed around with things'. That's the problem with VoLTE. It is undoubtedly the future and what will make 4G everything we hoped it would be from day one, but it also stands to make 4G a horrid experience for ordinary users if not done properly. |

Pressure from whom exactly ? I don't exactly get the impression that every EE subscriber in the UK has their life on hold over this ? I'd be amazed if more than a hundred or so people are even aware of what should have happened, and understand the implications,
Reading some of the posts in here, you'd think it's the consumer outage of the year, and BBC Watchdog are poised to devote an entire show to it ! EE are running ESN and are under very close scrutiny from the NAO and the Home Office and from Parliamentary Select Committees at the moment so you could say them firstly. Then there'll be management pressure on the networks staff, they want to see a product that they've been investing significant amounts of money in live on the network and being advertised to get customers on board through marketing, even if it's not as 800 - the geographic stuff will do. |

Hence why it's imperative that it works when launched. It's not good that VoLTE is already live and causing problems, as EE has always strived for the fewest dropped calls. It absolutely has to work on 800.

Yeah based on reports of VoLTE flakiness on this very forum I'd have pinned it on that too.
I'm not outraged or anything Just excited/impatient, it's a geek thing.

Absolutely I completely agree, my primary frustration is the announcing it and then not delivering on the date. I'd rather they delayed it until it worked properly but at the same time I'd rather they didn't blame it on Account Provisioning and they'd just announced it when it was live and working. Like I say I blame management pressure.

VoLTE issues would make sense, but most of my VoLTE issues have only happened very recently, which seems a bit strange :/

Obviously they did lots of testing, but I assume they were for a while happy to go with the date they did. Perhaps it was a very late in the day 'oh sh*t' moment.

Not had any issues with volte since the last Pixel update (Monday) so probably a bit too early to tell

I've only had two calls today since the update, and both were Wi-Fi calling.

And also the have left the post on twitter with the extra 2percent coverage, 75percent coverage which means 4G800 should go very soon live. It is just when people see the 75 percent coverage November 2016 it is unreal yet. And they will believe that. It should be removed from Twitter until they have it back on.
