I'm picking up band 20 4g in my house where I would normally get a weak 3g signal. One strange thing though, I was under the impression that 800mhz lte would give low single digit mbps download speeds? I done a speed test and got 15mbps. obviously a lot less than 4g usually but still adequate for all my needs

Well you should... As EE is making all Customer Service based in UK or Ireland... Wish i could say that about BT.
BT is headed the same way with a target of at least 90% by March next year.

5MHz of 800 has a theoretical max of 37.5Mbps whereas 20MHz of 1800 is 150Mbps.
If you take half that for a real world speed, 1800 would be 75Mbps so it follows that real world speeds for 800 would be a quarter of this at around 18Mbps.
I've had everything from 3Mbps to nearly 30 on 800MHz.

They are not aiming for 100%.. which will mean most out of hour calls are still be India.

Very much that last part.. as long as Marc is in charge at least.

I'm not in an 800 area, knew this before launch, so how are people finding it other than slightly better coverage. (I was told they wouldnt be on full power this year.. btw)
Those having dropped calls.. which phone?
My local 800 site is still low in power, so guessing it's not been included. All masts around me I've seen are very low power too. On that map link that was linked earlier it says I can get 1/5 800, if I go to a postcode next to the 800 mast it's 5/5 800. So for some reason it's on the map, but extremely low power (they actually had it higher power at one point, but after it was VoLTE restricted, they lowered the power). I also think it might be blocking all devices from connecting, including VoLTE ones, as my iPhone stayed on 3G despite -100dBm 800 from that mast showing as a neighbour on my other phone.

Anyway I'm happy to see that others have now got 800 up and running where they are, and can't wait to see it get rolled out more and more over the coming months!

I'm having dropped calls and have an iPhone 7, my sister is also having dropped calls with a 7 plus as is my girlfriend with a SE.

There's no 800 in Nottingham as far as I know.

I'm glad my masts are not on full power yet as I thought they were when I was able to see them again from Wednesday but the footprint was exactly the same as before when they were testing months ago.

Hopefully won't be too long for one of them so I finally have signal inside work!

Well currently there are many more than 700 800 masts active, but only 700 at the current time are being allowed access, the rest are in various stages of local testing / queue for such. So that would make sense.

The mast at the shopping centre in Newton Mearns got upgraded at long last a couple of weeks ago. Its broadcasting band 3 but not 20 which by the appearance of the antenna they will do 800. I hope this is the case because coverage has only marginally improved at my gaff.

FYI The Orange mast is still broadcasting 2g. Go figure.

Do EE throttle speeds when tethering on pay monthly contracts? Considering moving over from Vodafone and I have to use tethering on a semi-regular basis at the moment.

EE does speed cap on the new tariffs, 20/60/unlimited. In the past, you had some tariffs on single speed only.

I've been told the 700 launch sites are on full power so I'm surprised people are finding them all set so low. I hope that doesn't mean that they're going to be kept at that power level for the foreseeable future.

I've had two failed VoLTE calls in the last 24 hkjes (failing when handing off to 3G) so there are still issues.

So if you can access an 800mhz mast now it's being run at full power?

I can access around 6 but I'm 99% sure none are being run at full power.

Using the API the result of postcodes in the north west of Stamford has matched power levels for L800 & L1800. Not surprising as the mast is sporting shiny new panels.

The rest of the sites in Stamford seem to have L1800 added but using existing panels so no L800 here.

There may be full power L800 in Stiffkey, Norfolk. Postcode NR22 6DJ gives a "You need to select a 4G device to get 4G in this area" message in the checker.

{"type" : "4G800", "strength" : "0

I guess this means my house has no 800mhz coverage

Well this is strange. Putting that postcode into Microsoft Edge on my computer resulted in "Download music, stream video and keep in touch at superfast speeds." 1/5bars.
Putting the same postcode into Chrome on my phone resulted in "No coverage - you've found one of the the few spots in the UK where we're not currently providing 4G coverage." Both times I left the device name blank.

So the same postcode, but 3 different messages including yours. Me thinks the coverage checker needs some updating to become fully functional.

Edit: Just refreshed the coverage checker in Microsoft Edge again, and this time I'm also getting the "You need to select a 4G device to get 4G in this area." I wonder why it's still not working on my mobile?
The above message is nonsense anyway, surely it should say You need to select a 4G calling device to get 4G in this area?

The whole 4G checker has now gone belly up for me!

How do you use that link (for the 800 coverage) please? I just get text on the screen.

On top where you write the link http://maps.ee.co.uk/all?brand=ee&ta...overage&q=your postcode then press enter and you will be able to see it

Thanks.

No 800 on in my area yet. There are definitely a few tweaks to the 1800 though.

My area where I live and work no 4G800 on maps too. EE tech team told me the masts around are equipped with 4G800 but not live yet. So I think the 700 sites to start with like a slow and soft launch and switch every week more and more 4G800 sites. The EE guy told me RG8 0PY 100 percent mast has 4G800 and sending the signal but can not access it as still under testing. He sent me a message confirming 2G/3G/LTE1800/LTE800

My informed guess is that your site does have 800 to cover the A4074 with dodgy coverage but it's not a launch site...............
