Data tariffs
What's the best tariff for up to 1GB/month data?
I got a dual sim phone a while ago, and being a literal-minded person wanted to use both slots, so my old dumb phone sim went in one and new sim to be used for data in the other. I started off using a £5/month giffgaff 500MB gigabag, but 500MB wasn't really enough. 1GB/month is, but £7.50/month trips some psychological trigger I have--it's more than I want to pay for mobile data. I know Delight do 1GB/month for £5, but, well, they don't have a great reputation. At the moment, I'm using a Three prepaid sim: http://www.three.co.uk/standalone/pr...=1214306096047 and discarding it after it expires and buying a new one--using the sim in a phone is against the Ts&Cs, though Three don't check that, and I can't make any sense of the Three business model. The approach works fine, but I keep expecting them to notice what I'm doing and cut me off. |

Stick a phone SIM in a tablet, particularly one with All You Can Eat data, and they'll get very cross with you. |

After having a quick browse, I found iD Mobile to offer 1GB for a fiver on a 30 day contract. Comes with 250 minutes as well. Might be worth taking a look at that. They use Three.

Three actually doesn't mind if you use a SIM meant for tablet or MiFi use in a phone. They are highly unlikely to cut off the SIM.

The Three Data Reward PAYG sim can be used in phones, Mifi or tablets with the same 3-2-1 standard sim rates.

Trying to stream an Amazon Fire TV stick or a Roku TV stick as your multi channel with a 20GB mobile broadband contract sim in a mifi unit, it will only last 5 or 6 days when you streaming most of the day.

EE's mobile broadband data is very expensive at£1 per GB and in excess apart from their 100GB package which costs £75. And those on a contract.
A far cry from their own 100GB x 2 months phone sims for a tenner promotions, and many phone sims that are now the market where some mobile operators are prepared to throw in 30GB or more of data for £20 to £25 per month |

It's not unlike comparing Adsa with Waitrose on a pricing front. Why would EE 'sell' their data for 25p a GB? |

https://payg-petef.rhcloud.com There are links to other comparison sites. PAYGdeal used to be good for this sort of question but it is rather out of date. -- Pete Forman https://payg-petef.rhcloud.com/ |
