Homes Under the Hammer has been on BBC for 14 years with Martin presenting. He also has a radio show. Desperate as some are to 'prove' that he is some anonymous person who walked into the jungle off the street while the other "celebs" scratched their heads over who this interloper could be, he is actually a well known tv personality.

I'd never heard of the Olympian or the comedian but don't have a problem with accepting they are well known to others.

My sister has met him a few times.
He's nice enough but apparently really doesn't take much for the Ego to kick in.
Likes nothing more than being recognized if you know what I mean

No, being on TV does these days.

Why should anybody prove anything to you? Go to Google!

Totally agree with your comments.
People who have had the misfortune to go through a cancer diagnosis have every right to speak about it in the hope of inspiring other cancer sufferers and giving them hope for the future. IMO it would be a retrograde step to go back to the days when the word cancer was considered unmentionable. It was only referred to as the 'C' word.
Give me Danny Baker any day over a TOWIE wannabe who considers it a massive trauma if one of their false nails breaks or their orange fake tan is fading.

I love homes under the hammer but find him irritating to watch. Not sure why, he may be a nice man

I feel that we have very different lives.
For me ( & thousands of others) who work night shift, or till late ( 11pm for me) pleasent day time TV like HUTH are a nice way to start the day & hence Martin is a pleasent person with a familiar face. The alternative would be Jeramy Kyle, who does not tick the boxes unless I am in foul mood & need to vent anger

When I get in from work I like to watch more serious programmes ( I like Scorpion, Breakout Kings etc, Strictly & IACGMOOH, why would I want to waste my precious wind down timw watching people watching telly ( I do LOVE Charlotte though) & the likes of TOWIE & Geordie Shaw.

It feels as if you think that if people are happy to work the unsociable hours that nobody else wants to work, they deserve crap TV. On the contrary, by working unsociable hrs we are actualloy saved from crap TV. Good stuff on record, good stuff for browsing

Wow! A lot of assumptions there! Bizarre.

I guess you need to re-question your 'feelings' because I work unsociable hours too so that's your theories out the window. 😀 Mind you, I don't bleat on about my working hours the way some do. ☺️

I like Martin on HUTH but he's not coming across too well on here. I can't help but think the task would have been very different without the newbies. There would have been none of the gloating behaviour and they would all be still on good terms. It was more enjoyable before they came. It was such a refreshing change to not have conflict and so on and this has slightly ruined it for me. Just have to see how it plays out

He's 'famous' (if you can call it that), for hosting a show. I trust I'm correct in that. I'm sure you'll correct me if I'm wrong. He IS a property expert and developer as is Lucy who co presents with him. He actually knows what he's talking about on the programme so yes while I agree his only claim to celebrity is presenting that show it's a bit mean spirited to say to someone "if you know beyond a shadow of doubt he's a property developer" as if they are lying. As the OP said google it

I find there's nothing wrong with that as long as they are pleasant to people (or at least not rude) when they're recognised.

I like Martin on HURH and I hope he's going to get a fair edit. I can see that he's not come in quite the right spirit but I also feel like others are ganging up on him to bring the rest of the group back together, and to suck up to Danny, and that would be a very uncomfortable situation to be in. I hope he can do well in the trial, though sometimes with time limit ones it's just impossible in the time, and I suspect they want the camp hungry so will make it really hard.

I think he is getting a bad edit. Just look at the bit before the break when he supposedly moaned about having fish. It turned out to be a joke after spending time in the rotten fish tank.

The editing actually puts me in mind of when Lucy Pargeter was in there and she complained about it when she came out.

He does need to lighten up though and I too hope he does well in the trial. I was really hoping that Adam was going to get that one as he is really annoying me at the moment.

My appologies. I did make several assumptions, many of which are clearly not true. Just like I assumed you were at school when HUTH was on

well he can't be grumpy if he has to eat rice tonight, as it's all down to him now

anyway, I am giving him a fresh start, I am sure he will soon start loving carting the water up the hill

I think Martin is OK and will settle down to camp life very soon.

It's Adam who annoys me. He was no/little help in the morse code task and although he was offering moral support to Martin I think he's a bit of a stirrer and lacks maturity. (Obviously, this is all based on the edits I've seen and I may be wrong!)

Martin was repeating himself about how much he wasn't bothered about Danny gloating over his win and yet he was mouthing off to Adam. Martin even went looking for Scarlett in order to try and convince the others that he was going on about it because he thought it had gotten to her when Danny was gloating. Yeah, of course you did, Martin. You could see that it got to Martin when Danny gloated (just after the trial had finished). Martin came out with: "No one likes a gloater". I'd have just laughed it off and not gave him the satisfaction.

Edit: I can't believe that Martin fell for Adam's obvious wind up. Adam obviously only did it because he wanted Martin to get in a state again for when Danny arrived back at camp.

He was certainly making the most of rubbing himself up against Sam. I hope for her sake he didn't get overly excited.

He looks like he will be this years walker , i don't think he is coping at all , he seems a sensitive guy and i think Baker will go after him with snide comments and he will just get fed up and go , plus he doesnt seem to like any of the food so why go in there in the first place

He said he thought they got to eat pizza, i.e. didn't believe that they were actually deprived of food! That might be a real cause for being grumpy!!!

I am enjoying watching Martin. I don't think he's a bad guy but coming in late has not done him any favours. It will be interesting to see where he goes from here.

The trial should be interesting. If he smashes it, then he should be ok but if he doesn't I think hes toast.
