Exactly. At least somebody like Cain makes no pretense about what he is. There is an honesty there, plus his somewhat satdonic sense of humour is more entertaining to watch. It is fiction at the end of the day, we watch to be entertained.
In real life, I wouldn't go near somebody like Cain, I doubt many of us would, both from a sense of morality and self preservation. Even those that fancy him rotten.
The band wagon accusation always baffles me. Why can't people have just independent of each other reached the same conclusion? Often for varying reasons.
I separate the art from the artist. There are some actors I've really liked when I've seen them interviewedbut I can't stand the character they play due to the writing or the way they act the part. Ewually, adore some characters but think the actor is a bit of a tosser. And sometimes it is both, like the actor and character, dislike the character and actor.
Mihht also mention that there are different ways of liking a character. You might like them as a person in so much you recognise they are nice but not enjoy watching them but like a chatacter as you find them interesting but not like them as a person. The best characters, it tends to be a combination, sometimes they are 'nice' and sympathetic, other times they aren't.
Gennie and Nikhil, another two nice characters who were generally well liked.
