Xmas Preview just on CIN
Cant see a thread so sorry if i missed it?
So what did you think? As always to short to make much of, i liked the Dr turning his back on the badguy and daring him to shoot him in the back and then try claiming it was in self defence lol That superhero, was anything but super even if he can walk through a window built to withstand 4 nuclear blasts - which begs the question why wouldn't just one be enough???!! Oh and no sign of the new companion hmmph |

Much as I expected. Very tongue in cheek. Bit of pastiche. Nothing much to judge it on really. I would have preferred a trailer. These out of context scenes don't serve any useful function. And they certainly don't get anyone excited like a trailer would.

Awful. That clip is likely to turn viewers away, not encourage them to watch.

Same instead of previews I wish they went back to making special scenes, making a miniepisode or trailer. I feel like they overdo The American Accents on Doctor Who, it was really distracting lol, but as someone else said it might change when actually watching the episode.

Speak for yourself. I think the lighter tone will be seen as an improvement to a lot of people. |

I've not seen the clip yet (as I type this) but the thread title made me cringe before I'd even clicked on it!
I do wish people would stop making Christmas sound like an unpleasant dermatological condition! |

I didn't mind the clip although the dialogue was a bit heightened and very light int tone probably because it is Christmas.
it's the incidental music that irritates me the horn that comes out you know when they're trying to do something comedic like I need to be told it's funny. Laugh here! less is more |

Well, it's pretty hard to gauge much from a short, out of context scene, really.
Bit of Doctor thinking on his feet. He appears to like Chinese food. Makes up another silly alias. Looks like Lucas will be underplaying things and Nardole will be 'undercutting' The Doctor. 'The Ghost' does have actual 'superpowers'. Will he be as memorable as the legendary Karkus, played by the equally legendary Christopher (slightly camp, beflared, strange accented Cyberleader) Robbie? Stay tuned! |

Awful, it came across like a spoof/comedy version of Doctor Who, it would be okay as a Children in Need skit but not a proper episode.
Out of context scenes are a problem but there is no reason that a scene can't be written especially with this usage in mind, it is no surprise that it gets a slot on Children in Need. I hate the whimsical music at the start and that other music is normally used when the Doctor springs into action, couldn't they have at least had some new music for the Superhero. It had such a cringy tone and the Doctor was annoying, why does it have to be either dark and grim or like this, why can't we have a nice balance? |

Ha ha The Dr just popped up again in an allstar skit! Talking on the phone to Eddie Redmayne (yes he was in a certain character in a new film) on the phone in the Tardis!

I hated the music in the scene and it felt a bit cheesy and eh. However i liked how The Doctor turned his back.
But not sure what to make of it out of context, however the scene didn't excite me at all for the episode. |

I'm sorry but the superhero thing has saturated the movie industry, why the hell has Moffat decided to jump on board now defies belief.
Dr who is better than this. |

It felt and looked very cheesy and cringeworthy to me.
The whole superhero thing as well? If you have a big budget maybe you can make it look good but I suspect many kids (who it is trying to attract with such a theme) will probably scoff when they compare the CBBC superhero in that clip to someone from one of the Marvel films. |

I do really despise the superhero thing in Doctor Who, i honestly am not sure why but i just hate the idea. I really hope it is explained and done well, but i can't help but not like the premise.

This seems odd . It's like The Doctor is randomly guest starring in an episode of an American superhero show.

Yeah its an unusual concept, and thats what Doctor Who is based around, but it only works if they can explain it well, in the long run. Like The Titanic crashing into the TARDIS, or a Bride ending up in the TARDIS on Christmas Eve, it only works if they can execute it well, and make a good story out of it.
