The character called Pat the King Phelan is one of the best villians the show has ever had

He was fantastic tonight. But we now realise he is not a killer but just a bad man who cares more about money than people

He's a great character for sure...

Only trouble is his time on CS is now limited as he's crossed the line into murderer which means at some point he has to leave the show (either go to prison or be killed off) as the only character ever to be allowed to get away with murder is Tracy Barlow.

Everone else has to leave the show shortly afterwards...

I liked the character at first but he became a panto style villain so I can't wait for the end of him.

This times ten. It's so repetitive.

We are nothing compared to the great god Pat Phelan

I thought he was good tonight as well, and him being torn and unwilling was a lot more believable than just going hell for leather. Liked the sign of the cross at the end, strangely respectful!

Phelan was absolutely brilliant tonight. I actually looked forward to the second episode and it's been a long, long time since I've done that.

I'm hoping that as he didn't actually murder Michael Phelan can come through this somehow and remain. It occurs to me that it would be dreadful to lose both Phelan and Todd so maybe they can somehow come out of this and stay in the show. Please

I don't find him panto at all. I think he is quite a layered character. There is a great chance for some back story here to find out why he's like he is.

I thought the scenes tonight, the difference between how he is with Anna to Michael and to Gary just shows that he's a lot more than a panto villain. Its actually quite refreshing to see someone like this rather than a physical villain which we see all too often on soaps.

Phelan is many things but panto is not one of them.

Phelan is a great character

I disagree, he is extremely panto style.
Only thing missing is a bushy waxed moustache for him to twirl.

Please let him be gone soon. Alas I fear he is going to be allowed to stay. Vinny is going to abscond with the money, Phelan will convince everyone he knew nothing about the scam, Eileen will believe him of course, no one knows the truth except Michael, who's now dead and Anna, who no one will believe because they didn't believe her before. I actually thought he would be gone soon and that this plot would be finished, but you just know it's not going to happen.

Richard Hillman was panto too but that didn't make him any less a brilliant character

I found Phelan far more sinister than Richard especially tonight

He hasn't murdered anyone, he confronted a thief and a villain on private property who ran, and is not responsible for Des's health issues.

After tonight I'd be more than happy for it to be renamed Phelanation Street. He is king.

He was great, surely Connor McIntyre will get soap villain again next year. Very impressive acting.

I absolutely loathe Phelen but that whats make a good actor imo. And the Phelen storyline has improved vastly of late as lots of characters are now embroiled in it, rather than just Eileen.

Slightly off topic but what else has Connor Mcintyre been in? I'm sure I recognise him from a tv show that aired several years ago...

I thought in the first episode with Anna he was 100% panto & found the whole thing pathetic but in the second episode he came across as genuinely menacing & completely loathsome, which I guess was the intention so well done to him for that I guess!!

Phelan didn't murder Michael though - he had a heart attack Phelan didn't so much as lay a finger on him
