In real life of course but not in soaps. I love it when characters get away with things (well some IE the ones I like ) and it is actually more realistic.

Oh I agree. While I think Connor McIntyre has done a good job with Phelan, no way do I think Phelan shouldn't pay, he deserve to and so does any other soap character who breaks the law. I hate when they do that, it's so unrealistic that they just end up getting a slap on the wrist or no sentence at all.

I'm hoping that as he didn't actually murder Michael Phelan can come through this somehow and remain. It occurs to me that it would be dreadful to lose both Phelan and Todd so maybe they can somehow come out of this and stay in the show. Please ”

The post-mortem will prove that Phelan did not kill Michael, but we can be sure that Anna, Gail and maybe those who discover they have been robbed will believe he did.

This is certainly how Phelan will see things, as might the Police at least initially.

I wonder if the police will find the mobile phone. I am sure Michael was recording the conversation and did he not take a picture of the passport (I am not sure about this)

Yes, I see him as a twisted version of Jimmy Corkhill.

No doubt Corrie will show Phelan getting punished for this, whereas they allow the Platt creature to get away with covering up the death of Callum and nearly killing his own daughter and two of his neighbours, but then it also appears that some on this forums users are also happy with that too.

They might not

Spoiler
Phelan tonight is bettered by Vinnie. Its Vinnie who walks away with the money. So he has been out-conned by a con-man

Phelan is clever. He won't end up in gaol jusy yet and he is clever enough to get away with any scheme

So long as he takes out the plebs ie Anna I don't mind.

The responses on this forum are unbelievable. People actually think the awful things he said to Anna were great. They want to see him get one over on her and are glad he got the better of Michael. Am I living in a parallel universe? This forum always does seem to have different views from the public in general though. No one I know that watches Corrie can stand Phelan and were all hoping he would be gone by now and yet I come on here and there appears to be some kind of Phelan hero worship.

Boring character, boring storyline and another boring thread designed to annoy people.

Given that this is a soap storyline and Anna is such an unsympathetic character I see absolutely nothing wrong in preferring Phelan than Anna

Obviously in reality it would be a different story but it's a soap so no biggie in my view anyway

Yes I agree. DS just likes to come up with what they fondly believe is some sort of 'ironic' hero worship of scumbag characters - doesn't matter how many times it's done, they still think they're being really funny and milk it to the nth degree.

Personally I don't normally care that much either way about soap characters but I really wasn't happy with the disgusting way Phelan spoke to Anna the other night. Fictional she may be but the character is a broken woman in a great deal of pain, yet Corrie thought it was OK to include dialogue like, "I like me bacon well done, not me women". Totally ott and unnecessary humiliation imo.

Phelan did not kill Michael directly, but by his omission to help him , by not calling an ambulance or attempting resuscitation you could say he caused his death

He's brilliant, definitely one of the best actors on the show (miles ahead of the likes of Michael and Anna) and a great soap villain too.

Poor Phelan was a broken man when that thug Anna beat him mercilessly with a plumbers lead pipe in the street. The screams from Phelan as that pipe crashed down time after time on his face so effected me I still can't eat properly to this day. I was glad to see him bounce back to his normal self unlike fishwife who wallows in self pity. She wasn't a broken woman that day she was swinging that lead pipe like a baseball player at Phelans soft and gentle face. No contest who I prefer to see on the cobbles long term.

I'm no fan of Anna but that doesn't matter, the way Phelan spoke to her was disgusting.

It was disgusting but he's that type of character.

I just have no sympathy at all for Anna given how horrible she can be to people herself. The problem here is how unsympathetic Anna has been made as a character imo.

Yeah it does. It makes you wonder who can distinguish reality from fiction

Not many. I want to scream 'it's not real' but it probably wouldn't register.

No it wasn't. it was realistic. Never mind the hatefilled things she said to him. It was obvious what she was doing - letting Michael off to ransack the building site for evidence

Phelan should have picked up on this at the beginning
