They should kill Martin off off-screen. It'd be a good storyline for David and Gail would then have the full house of dead husbands. And why should dullard Martin be the one to make it out alive when more interesting men have carked it?

Yes Steve has been married 6 times - the same amount as Gail. Like Gail with ex-husband Brian Steve also re-married one of his ex-wives as well (Karen). So both Steve and Gail have been married 6 times but to 5 different people. I believe they hold the British soaps record. However all of Steve's previous marriages ended in divorce whereas Gail has only been divorced twice and widowed 4 times.

Leah in home and away doesn't have much luck with husbands.

Ken Barlow's been married 4 times to 3 different women and they have all died:

Wife 1 - Valerie Tatlock (mother of Peter and Susan - Adam's Mum). Electrocuted whilst mending a hair dryer.
Wife 2 - Janet Reid. Committed suicide when Ken said he wouldn't get back with her.
Wife 3 - Deirdre Hunt (mother of Tracy). First marriage ended in Divorce and their second marriage ended when Deirdre died of natural causes.

Ken also briefly worked as an escort and one of his clients died during dinner.


So while marrying Gail means it's very likely that you will die, marrying Ken seems to guarantee it.

I would personally like to see David's father return as I find it quite unbelievable that he hasn't been there for him considering how close they were. Ok, Sean Wilson won't return, but get another actor to portray him.

Although he's had two wives die (the two mothers of his children) Ian's never really been bereft by the death of his spouse in the same sense Gail has. Ian and Cindy split up for the final time in 1996 when she had him shot and fled to France, her death was two years later in 1998. Same with Laura - her and Ian had been separated for some time before she died. Ian kicked her out and split up with her on Christmas Day 2002 Laura did not die until April 2004.

I think Martin had best stay as far away from Gail as possible, he is a survivor that man. More of the weeping and wailing from Gail, she has got it down to a fine art now. How unlucky is she, sleeping on her bed in her converted garage, over the corpse of a local thug that her Daughter in Law had done in, and her Son had buried. Oh my, it is worse than Brookside with the corpse under the patio......
