With both soaps having recently received new producers, I think Corrie is certainly leading the way again after a lacklustre few years.

Lots going on, some gritty/light hearted storylines, some promising returns such as Adam, Peter, Toyah and Rosie. Plus veteran characters such as Ken seem to be getting more meaty material.

EastEnders on the other hand is rather dull and the opposite. Not a lot is going on and we have had no casting news.

What are everyone's thoughts?

Corrie has improved in a lot of ways under KO though there are still issues!!
EE I don't watch but reading comments on here the new guy seems to be polarising opinions a bit!!

I keep trying to get back into EE but I just can't summon the interest and I can't really say why. It just seems soooo dull? Plus Libby is back and I utterly detest Libby

Corrie is still abysmal.

EastEnders has had a major turnaround and is, in my opinion, making far much more 'progress' than its northern rival.

it's took 3 years but corrie is finally better than ee again

liking the new revitalised Barlows

eastenders is absolutely dreadful currently, maybe it will pick up again in the new year but I've lost all hope for the remainder of 2016

Corrie has improved but it could hardly get any worse. It still has some major issues, it's still stuck in a bit of a time-warp and there's still a huge amount of superfluous characters whose time has passed. A clear out is needed and they need to bring in some new characters. I know they're ramping up for an extra episode but so far it's all returnees - where's the new blood?

EE's also improved but it had a very different problem to solve. They've had their clear-out, have spent time refocusing on making the characters relatable again and have pulled away from the relentless OTT plots. Storylines appear to finally be picking up again but it also needs some new blood in terms of characters.

So I think they're both improving and perhaps in six months time there won't be much to choose between them. I don't mean there won't be any differences between them but hopefully they'll both have found a new lease of life.

Far from abysmal, you should have watched tonight, it was great, poor Michael, Phelan as evil as ever, and the new Barlow regime is in place, it feels very good at the moment.

I think we'll always disagree on this 2shy. Sorry.

Coronation Street is only Coronation Street in name for me and nothing else. It has no connection to the show that I know and love.

I think both shows are on the up, CS probably have the more interesting storylines at the moment but EastEnders is quietly creeping up too. While Emmerdale though still good in parts is performing the worst out of the three in my book currently

Corrie has improved, EE is poor at the moment so I'd say Corrie is better.

But it changes every week, the soaps are so variable these days.

Corrie has improved massively and I do currently feel its above EE.

EE has re position itself, its improved many aspects that failed under DTC, why writing and characterisation has improved, the show is failing with having a balance of slow paced and a bit of drama filled plots, it being dragged down by shit non entity stories such as Bins and crap driving and bringing back dull character and no show of any new.

Corrie still has deadwood but its in a much better shape then it was 12 months previously.

Corrie is terrible but tonight was really good imo. I don't think Oates has done anything great at all.

I don't see anything worthy of note about corrie expect for Phelan to be honest and he was a Blackburn creation

Yes I'd definitely say Emmerdale is the poorest of the 3 at the moment.

However Phelan is the only storyline /character that's interesting me in corrie at the moment.

Although I will say Daniel Barlow is a fantastic addition

Unfortunately I have to agree that my beloved Emmerdale is incredibly poor at the moment and whist it's hardly on fire, I'm really enjoying Corrie. I definitely think that the Barlows are a great addition and it's nice to see them back at the helm. I love Sarah and Garreh together and Faye on her thieving spree. Not so keen on McBattersbys baby issues or Roy's wedding jitters, but I'll be glad when we turn a corner and see some development elsewhere

The big two are both much better than Eastenders. The storyline conferences at Elstree must be absolutely riveting... "I want dramatic storylines and big returns"... "How about a 6 month bin plot and Pauline's friend Derek?"

I have started watching Corrie again and I'm glad the Barlows are back at the forefront of the show however it's got a long way to go.

Emmerdale has been the best soap recently but EastEnders for me has improved so much character and writing wise but it just needs new storylines and some new characters and also maybe some popular character returns.

The Big Three you mean. Emmerdale has only pulled ahead of EE recently and EE will be back on top again soon. EastEnders will be on top again at Christmas and New Year and as soon as some of Sean's new storylines starts to show on screen I think we will be surprised and it will be back on top.

Corrie has had some returns etc but it's still not compulsive viewing for me.

EE last night was great I thought. Lots of storylines running atm.

Corrie is far from perfect but you can see that Kate Oates is trying to improve things. EE on the other hand is heading into one of it's worst era's ever, SOC may have been good for the Archers but he's not the right producer for EE, it'll be two years of boresville.

Are you joking? Did you not see EastEnders last night? Bonnie with her legs everywhere, Danny with his motor bike, then the rest, their performance was much better then Corrie. They got a ten from me.
