Wondering if anyone can help me out here?. I have a Sharp LC 32LD145K tv. The tv was working fine this week until yesterday were now i seem to be getting sound but no pic. I think it might be a backlight problem only because sometimes i can make out a very very faint outline on the screen but it is only sometimes.I swapped over my HDMI cables, too be honest i didn't even know if it would make a difference or not. I've had the tv for maybe only 3 years.

If it is indeed a backlight problem does anyone know if it's expensive to get repaired?

If you cannot even see the menu then it's the backlight or the electronics that drive it.

If you can see the menu (when the button is pressed on the remote) then it's some other problem.

Sounds like a backlight failure.

Not worth repairing - despite the Sharp badge it will either be a cheap Vestel or UMC set.

If you want a replacement look at LG, Samsung, Panasonic or Sony.

It'll be a cheap Vestel.

For the cost of the backlight repair on your 32" sharp, ypu could more or less replace it with a new 32" tv. They start at around £135 in the supermarkets; and some have a 2year guarantee

This set is indeed a Vestel. LED backlight failure is fairly common on these as the LEDs in the panel are grossly over-driven (regulation from the power supply is utter crap), but the fix (to someone who knows what they're doing) is very cheap. That's not to say that you'll get it fixed cheaply though as it's quite an involved job to do. I've done one and I can't say I'd thank you if you asked me to do another one.

Thanks for the feedback.

The reason i originally went for the Sharp was because it was a just a tv for the back bedroom just to play the Xbox on or watch from the Sky box.

It's just unfortunate it should happen @ this time of year when i need to spend money on other things.
