Really really bizarre hatred of Carol

She's had a great series so far

The fact people would let something as trivial as a laugh, or enthusiasm for a task taint their opinion of someone so much that they hate them for it is just bizzare

What has happened!?

We laud and applaud scheming, nastiness and vulgarity

But if someone is too nice or they are a tad too enthusiastic they are ripped to pieces

It's frankly BACKWARDS

It's the reason I've stopped watching BB

Negativity breeds negativity and I refuse to have negativity around me

Carol has been wonderful this far and I refuse to believe people love watching negativity and hate watching warm positive people having fun

Based on previous tv appearances I didn't think i'd like Carol, but I think she is doing so well. She's absolutely embracing the experience and i'd much rather watch that than scheming, bitching or moaning.

I actually find her livening things up. I would rather watch a middle aged woman give anything a go....at least she's not using the medical grounds card

She's female, yet is a leader, has opinions and thinks. That's just not on. That's a man thing. She should cook, shower in flimsy things and scream if there's a spider.
If Danny was a woman just imagine the hatred!
All power to her and I'm sure, if she read all the hate, she wouldn't give a toss.

Well said. She's already said, in an interview, she's never been one to care what others think of her.

It's not that hard to believe last year people were actively supporting that evil vindictive old crone Lady C with her vile and extremely negative attitude.

Difference being Lady C was being loathed by some people with good reason for being vile vindictive and augmentative purely with the intention of attention seeking any excuse and she would go off on one whether it was deserved or not and in the majority of times it was not.

The only time prior to this series that I have seen Carol V was when she was on Strictly for a fairly brief time, but I certainly can't see anything about her to cause 'hate' or negativity. I thought she was coming across rather nicely.

How nice to read posts that are positive towards Carol. I think she's great. She's strong and good fun and really likable. I hope she wins.

All of the above. Obviously attractive, strong, intelligent, successful and independent women are too threatening.

As a woman, I find the BIB tiresome. It's wheeled out time and time again, whenever a woman on a RTV show is criticised. I find it odd that if a woman is criticised, people jump on the person doing the criticising and use this statement (or the equally tiresome "Jealous hater" one). Believe it or not, it is possible to dislike someone (be they male or female) without feeling threatened by them or being jealous of them.

RTV shows tend to magnify traits and behaviour that ordinarily you wouldn't necessarily pick up on. Also, it's easy to misconstrue something that someone says or does, especially when editing comes into play. Also, what one person finds annoying might not come across the same way to another person. It's how the contestant behaves/'comes across', not their gender.

FWIW, I think this year's celebs seem to be an OK lot - they're an interesting mix (mostly people who are, or have been, famous for something, rather than because they're from RTV).

Hmm I'm not sure it's as straight forward as this because as soon as someone gives an example of nastiness and scheming others can and do defend that character and often when people exalt the so called niceness about someone others can describe exactly why they are not nice.

Bottom line is that it is about taste. I quite like Carol but have also liked so called schemers and negative people in the past like David V Day and Lady C. I think you just like what you like and I certainly wouldn't want to limit myself to only liking someone because they smile a lot or because they were negative at times. There is more about people than that.

I honestly don't understand it either?

Carol's my favourite, she's thrown herself into it all and is naturally funny in my opinion

I don't understand it either, I think she is very likeable and seems to be enjoying herself. I'll be quite happy if she wins.

Totally agree with you on Lady C and David Van Day; both of them made their respective series brilliant viewing, IMO

Social media has always been that way.

It's negative and nasty for absolutely no reason - it's why I stay well away.

They get outraged and offended at the slightest thing, then go on to pick apart the celebs in the most vulgar way, thus being way more offensive than anything the celebs have done.

Bunch of hypocrites that lack any kind of self-awareness.

Not sure what's going on with this place, although I wouldn't say it's just Carol that's taking a bashing, it's everyone, including the show itself. The forum is just full of negativity.

I'm greatly enjoying this series, so I'm staying away from here for the most part... Can't be doing with all the moaning.

The negativity has been overkill especially to Carol. I watched yesterdays late and going by the social media reaction to Carol and Danny was expecting them to have done something horrible- but apart from some competitiveness from Carol and a little gloating from Danny they hadn't done anything that bad! It's weird.

If people say they are finding her (or anyone else) annoying, that's not hatred.

I'm a Carol fan. Sometimes we Luke or dislike celebrities for no reason. I saw her once on loose women and she put everyone in their place and stopped the boring ones.. Plus she looks better as she gets older. Plus most people have heard of her.

I get what you're saying, but from the very beginning there have been quite a lot of posts on here saying that people don't like/can't stand/are extremely annoyed by Carol, but 'I don't know why'. I think, if you don't like someone but you don't know why, there's something underlying with yourself that's making that person irritating to you. I can't be doing with those comments. Even if it's just a voice, or an accent - there has to be SOME decent reason why you don't like someone.

Agree. I like fully rounded, warts-and-all people. If they appeal to me, they appeal for their flaws as much as for their strengths (and sometimes more because of their flaws). I don't need them to be nice or reasonable or even-handed all the time, since that's just not how people are, and especially not in an environment where they're being tested, one way or the other, 24/7. I also loved Lady C who remains one of my favourite campers ever.

Anyway, I think Carol's great and I love that she's giving it welly and seems determined to have a great (competitive) time in there.

Her laugh is driving me nuts & I felt the dancing about at the live trial was a tad embarrassing but nobody can say, she's not giving it her all.
