CS: Maria's arrest/Corrie 'continuity'

Ok before I start this thread is not about the merits or otherwise of Maria as a character, Samia as an actress, or even the storyline itself, it's about Corrie's attitude to continuity & storylining!!

For better or worse, depending on personal opinion, they have been building up the Caz revenge s/l on Maria for a few weks now & it all came to a head with Maria's arrest & some fairly harrowing scenes of her being locked up at the end of the episode!!
I found it strange that all we got in the next episode was a brief phone scene with Kirk the next episode to confirm she was being charged with murder but fully expected more in the thursday/friday episodes!! Instead we get a big fat nothing & judgng by next week's cast listings, no one involved in the s/l will be appearing next week either, which means by the time we next see the s/l it will be a full two weeks since the arrest episodes with absolutely no follow up!!
What in earth was the point in building up the storyline to Caz actually getting Maria charged with murder if they aren't going to then show the effects on her and other residents connected with her???
By the time we rejoin the story any impetus will be long gone & the whole storyline will have been something of a waste of time which is a real shame!!

This is not the first time this has hapened on Corrie, though I thought it was more of a Blackburn thing!! The other time that springs immediately to mind was Sinead's injuries from the minibus crash!!

The other thing that strikes me as ludicrous from the current s/l is that nobody on the Street seems to have even noticed or cares that a young woman they have all known for years & who is a friend to most on the Street has suddenly being carted away by the police & charged with murder!!
We have had scenes with Luke, her recent ex, Sean, supposedly a friend, Fiz, supposedly her best friend, not to mention countless others who know her yet not one mention of her plight!!

Weird, and very oiput of keeping with the newmore 'community' feel of Corrie we've enjoyed recently!!

The most unbelievable thing for me is that the police would have checked the CCTV of the cashpoint and saw that Caz was still alive. Any police force would do that first of all. They investigate. Not just swan around the street and look shirty all the time.

I agree.

Surely though the forensic team have found out by now that the blood on the scissors are more recent than when Maria has supposedly murdered Caz?

Something that really bothered me was the fact that there was no reaction about Maria being arrested from Luke. Considering he was suppose to have been in love with Maria - not to mention it was him who initially thought Caz wasn't to be trusted.

This.

He seems more interested in getting the appalling Tracy into bed again.

They did have a recent line where the police told Maria that they had looked for CCTV footage of the cashpoints and there was none. I am assuming that the cashpoints that Caz used did not have any CCTV (A bit unlikely in London).

However the most unbelievable points in this story for me is that it is possible for Maria to be able to kill an ex-solder like Caz. Once you get past that unlikely scenario how did Maria get rid of the body. I cannot see Maria dragging the body off and dumping it somewhere by herself. She would need help to do that and yet the police have not even looked into that.

Yeah Luke is probably the main one but it's just the total lack of reaction from everyone on the Street, except for Kirk & Aidan that seems so out of kilter with how Kate's Corrie has been so far!! I'm wondering if the Sharif business has meant scenes having to be rearranged & moved around or something & that is what has caused this two week hiatus in this s/l, though that seems unlikely!!

Surely, even though none of the main characters are involved next week, surely at least somebody will acknowledge the poor girl's plight!! Anything could be happening to her in there & no one on the Street seems interested

I'm surprised Audrey hasn't said anything, it is bad continuity but personally I'm glad the sl been put to rest for a bit

Audrey's name is in the cast list for next week so let's hope she at least acknowledges her 'adopted daughter's' plight!!

I wouldn't have minded the two weeks without the s/l moving on but at least keep it real & have a few characters mentioning It from time to time!!

I thought Sarah might have said something but I'm not surprised as their friendship when they worked in the salon together seems to have been forgotten about since she's returned from Italy.

Corrie need to wrap this storyline up as soon as possible.

Definitely. As other posters have said there are so many holes in this story it's ridiculous. I understand you can be charged with murder without a body but the police would need to prove a really strong motive and I just can't see a motive other than she wanted Caz to move out.

I may have missed it but has Maria legal representation?

I don't think we know as the only thing we've seen is her being put in the cell and there's been no follow-up since then

Exactly, yeah!!

That's just the kind of thing I'm talking about!!
Never remember them beng like this with previous wrongful arrest storylines!!

With Fiz we got all the gory details as I recall!!

Edit: What's more with Fiz, Maria was one of her staunchest supporters!!

Can't argue with that.

The Maria and Caz storyline seems to have been swallowed up by the other two big storylines of the week.

Hopefully the Maria and Caz story can't be left on the back burner for much longer, as it will trivialise an already slightly hard to believe set of scenarios, and we, as viewers, need to be shown where this plot line is heading (in a positive way and not just a lot of random thoughts put together, which are clearly not working).

How can she be arrested for murder without a body being found?

It can happen in real life but there has to be a compelling theory and motive for it. It doesn't happen after a couple of weeks and without a thorough investigation being conducted.

I think it will be wrapping up the week after next

In the episodes descriptions for the week after:

Monday 5th December
Will Aidan be able to contain his jealousy?

Wednesday 7th December
Aidan plots against Maria’s love life.

I can't see those occuring while Maria is still locked up/suspected of murder.

And when it is all over and Maria is proved to be innocent, not one of the people on the street will apologise!

I agree. Between the above damning evidence and the talk on the forum that's good enough for me.
