A series is recorded and assessed. What would you do?

Put out your best in your own mind?

Christmas sales everyone wants to be in everything to plug their stuff as a Christmas present.

But as said pre recorded.

Looks odd, not a good song and badly sung. Seriously, what the hell is the appeal?

Dreadful comedian. The best bits are MM himself and his observations that are always on point.

Still enjoyed the show on the whole, love the unexpected star. Just not as good as previous shows.

They must pay the audience who actually watch this at the theatre. Surely no-one would either hand over money or waste their own time traveling to watch this absolute pile of tosh.

Or, carefully selected group or related... Anyone recorded all shows to compare the faces?

Most TV tickets are free, I believe. You're still watching then? You know there's an option to not watch?

Michael McIntyre is OK entertainment - like most entertainment shows these days though it's VERY formulaic and predictable. Can't we have a juggler, magician, glove puppeteer or ventriloquist act thrown in occasionally to add unpredictability?

😂 You have come up with a list of 'entertainers' which entirely captures the only way this appalling show could get any worse.

That used to be variety. You could bung all of those on a show with a top act of the day and get 15 million viewers. Nowadays you would struggle to get 4 million.

These days viewers wouldn't mind watching the above being discovered (or otherwise) on BGT, but they wouldn't necessarily want to watch them again all that much.

So you have to add a bit of Noel, a bit of Beadle, a bit of Game for a Laugh, a bit of Takeaway into the mix and hope it creates a bit of........................buzz!

McIntyre and his format does this to an extent, but with all the competition, this modern style variety has a much harder task than its 60's to 90's predecessors. It has been displaced by the likes of SCD/IAC/BGT/XF as the king format-though as we have seen there is some tiredness with talent shows now.

Id love to see Peter Kay have a go at mainstream variety.

I am not sure any channel can risk Peter Kay live, especially pre 9 PM, he was on strictly Blackpool week, and upset some viewers.

^sounds like BGT

I think MM is quite a unique comedian - classy, not nasty nor foul mouthed

I don't know about that, I'd love to see a proper variety show -- tonnes of different acts and talents showing off their stuff. And not being judged by a panel of zeleb egoists, or hosted by Ant and bloody Dec.

Variety shows these days (if we're classing MMBS as one) are very thin on the actual talent -- one popstar singing a few songs does not a talent show maketh. ITV did a better attempt recently.

As a live TV hazard, Peter Kay would never be doing any kind of presenting gig -- or at the very least, it'd need to be recorded far in advance!

I like MM too. He seems to be a divisive figure, but he gets an undeservedly bad rap IMO.

Tonight 20.55 slightly later due to Strictly final.

Family entertainment with Michael McIntyre, featuring performances from Sting and Ricky Gervais as his famous alter ego David Brent.

There's also stand-up comedy from the hilarious Jack Whitehall.

Two members of the public are given the shock of their life in a special double surprise edition of Unexpected Star of the Show.

There is also unmissable new comedy material from Michael himself, and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver hands over his phone in celebrity Send to All.

Looking forward to this. Love Sting but cannot bear Ricky Gervais so it will be a bit hit and miss for me tonight

Jack Whitehall is far from hilarious.

I like Michael, but with these things you always get a mix of the good and the bad.

Yes, Ricky Gervais is marmite, I did like him, but it's now overdone, and grates a bit.

I always like Send to All, although apart from the Olly Murs segment (including when they brought on the Uber driver), they haven't made me laugh as much as previously this series. Here's hoping tonights is better.

Agree I enjoy it, the Uber driver was funny, it's worked again this series, but may need a refresh on the next series.
