Fully agree, this with Strictly is top quality entertainment tonight.

Actually.....

The " only" entertainment tonight.

Bless 'em, they're good separately but a bit of a mess together singing over one another. Fair play for doing it though.

They only had a short while to prepare, to be fair. Under the circumstances I think they did a decent job. Even if John did seem to be doing a Michael Buble impersonation for the most part.

Watching Sting perform feels like watching a man pleasure himself in front of a mirror.

The show is a brilliant entertainment show, I agree.

But there's no need to make snide comments alluding to the idea that all the other channels are rubbish at putting on entertainment shows. Entertainment is subjective anyway - I'm sure there are plenty currently enjoying what's on Channel 4, ITV etc and there's nothing wrong with that.

Ahhhh well you can watch the other side, or maybe not, they just have had films on all night.

There's nothing really in it for them - last year they put out new programming at Christmas and it didn't rate well. But this is better suited to another thread.

Not seen this show before, and came in half way through, just as they started introducing John the runner/singer, Jack Whitehall, and then the replies to Jamie Oliver's texts, and everything after. Proper feel good entertainment that worked really well. Excellent.

Hassaan, I am trying hard not to come back on these points to try to avoid an argument.

But,

Fact, ITV have given up tonight, four old films and a CITV show tonight.

BBC1 has pulled out the stops on great entertainment tonight, ITV all gone out to their Christmas party and left the work experience intern putting on films all night. It cannot be defended in anyway.

I understood the forums are to make discussion, but it seems criticism of ITV is banned or censored here.

I don't want an argument either but I do feel some of your points are a bit unfair. I'm not saying ITV can't be criticised but that's all I tend to see on here.

Yes, ITV's schedule isn't great. But as I mentioned in the ratings thread, there isn't much advertising opportunity for them. Especially against Strictly.

The advertising opportunity is just not true, this weekend is the busiest full weekend before Christmas, people buying presents, people will decide this week where to buy their Christmas food, then post Christmas book summer 17 holidays, newspapers are full off one or two page adverts.

ITV could put up an alternative against Strictly, they have on Sunday put Midsomer Murders against SPOTY and Apprentice they didn't give up there.

Tonight ITV gave up.

Not one single LE or New show!

Now it's chicken and egg, if they show good shows they will get viewers,

The arguments could be why put Magriet on Christmas Day when the shops are closed, but it's all about having a schedule.

Well, I think I'll just leave this there as I think it'll spiral out of control otherwise.
