I love that song, I love Les Mis and Andy was wonderful. A little niggle. In the Les Mis show, that ballad is sung to a silent, attentive audience and is intensely moving. When did it become a thing for the audience to cheer, holler and go mad at every key change?
Sadly it's another trash low-grade this that we have imported from America. Here in Britain we used to listen to the song and then give it a standing ovation at the end of it. In America they go mad at the start of the song before they have even heard it and usually drown out the singer. Frankly it's rude.

To the posters who turned over/went out/walked the dog after five minutes, I too felt like that, as MMc irritates me.
However, I had read a 'choice' review in the paper that morning which said 'stick with it' and I'm very glad I did...great show.

Although I thought the fireman was a lovely chap, andhad a very good voice, he wasn't exceptional or world class
That song has been sung many times by various singers, the best versions being, in my opinion, those of Alfie Boe, and Jonathan Antoine
So, I hope he's not being encouraged to give up his job to start a career in singing
There are so many good singers out there, it would be hard to make his mark
He could end up like Jai McDowerll. Who won BGT some years ago, dropped by the record company , and faded into the background.

I found MM routine about the wasp swatting very true and funny.

The rest of the programme was ok, not great but didn't need any thought to lose yourself in it.

This is what the work does has got to, a very limited attention span. A few are nit prepared to give anything anytime, they expected the world to be set alight in just five minutes.

Those who walked out after five minutes, well there loss, the show was great, the social media part brilliant, the unexpected star was wonderful.

I recall great sitcoms like Only fools and horse may take 20/30 minutes to set up a big laugh, the few who gave something five minutes would have missed the joke on that as well.

I don't believe he has such aspirations, especially with a young family to provide for. He has a safe job with the fire service and enjoys amateur dramatics/singing as a hobby.

Maybe a part time singing role.

They were doing it because he is an amateur and every note change was good

But Alfie Boe and the others have been trained - Not sure if Andy has

Very off putting for him, and spoils the enjoyment for others

Wow! The firefighter singer isn't just good he is world class!

Just shows that it's who you know and being in the right place at the right time and not talent that makes stars.
Kind of connected, I recall one of the F1 drivers being interviewed a few years back (can't recall who) and the interviewer got on to the subject of the drivers amazing talent. To my (slight) surprise, the driver was quite self deprecating, saying along the lines of 'I was fortunate enough to have a family that fully supported me throughout the early years, dad taking me to/from practice, races etc. And the sacrifice they made. I'm sure there are tens of thousands of people out there that, if given the same breaks, would be every bit as good as me if not more so.'

I suppose you could say that about almost anything in life, as you say often knowing the right people and right place right time ...

Only difference is he wasn't just plucked out of thin air. This was all arranged just like everything in showbiz.

nonsense...... we knew within 5 minutes whether a new comedy was going to be funny/worth watching or not.

im not denying that some parts of the show might have been great.... but its simply not worth sitting through mcintyres drivel to get to it.

If you mean McIntyre then a wild guess would be that he is one of the most popular comedians in the UK and probably the second most popular stand up in the country.

Is "snowflake" a new buzzword that people think is clever to use? I've seen it in several places recently.

Only realise this new series was on by chance and pleased to have caught it! Much agree with the sentiments on the fireman's voice, I was not expect that at all! Even how the surprise was exposed was great and the bit with Olly's phone too. Nice Saturday evening TV.
