I quite like Michael McIntyre and he can be funny at times, but unfortunately this programme is unmitigated 💩.

It is formulaic, lowest common denominator, feeble and uncompelling nonsense.

yep... pertains to those born between 1981 and 1997, aka 'the millennials' . bought up by leftist education system where they were taught not to offend, and that no one loses. cosseted and protected from all the nasty things in the world so they dont know how to handle real life where people DO offend, where people DO lose.

hence theres no outstanding comedy being made now by this generation, and no original cutting edge music, no big scene, ... of course this is a sweeping generalisation and there are a few exceptions - but nothing like the boomers and generation x created.

Well if you look in terms of tour sales then it's clearly Peter Kay then Mcintyre. Lee Evans was up there but he's retired now.

and the teaching union was the nut as has been pointed out, and they were firmly leftist. i have worked in schools since 1977 - ive seen the way the left have changed things from nursery rhymes (cant say black sheep, despite that black sheep producing an enormous amount of wool, a success story) , non competitive sports where no ones 'loses', ive seen crap like 'everyones opinion is of equal value' - which its not as any idiots pov does not have the same weight as a well reasoned, informed, intellectual one.

its feeding the kids crap like that thats emasculated them, made them scared to voice an opinion instead of teaching them how to accept differing opinions, how to handle 'losing' and how to ignore 'name calling'.... Comedy is still about laughing at characters. That you dont find them funny does not mean they are un-PC or PC.

The other shows you named were a live show (predominantly by the alternative comedy crowd of the 80's) and Brass Eye a satirical show.

Baa Baa Black sheep was a one off doo gooder event that was blown out of proportion, and not a national policy or enforced by the NUT.

my nephews, at pre-school only 3 years ago had to sing 'baa baa wooly sheep' 'black sheep' was banned/dissuaded as early as the 80's.


are you telling me you didnt have 'non competitive sports' in your school, because that was rolled out nationally. it was done so those who werent very good at sport didnt feel inferior, didnt want to hurt their little feelings.

loads, monty python often made gay jokes. spike milligan often made pakistani jokes - the pakistani dalek is one of the funniest sketches ever, then theres till death us do part, all of these and more used what we would consider 'non pc' subject matter now for comedic purposes. but its wasnt dont nastily, and those subjects were not the sole butt of the jokes. people were.... from rich to poor, fat to thin, black to white... it was observational comedy - offensive only to the weak minded.


i didnt say otherwise, i said, and maintain, that from the 1950's through to the year 2000 there was a lot of great new musical styles created by the youth of the day - for the youth of the day. there was variety, strong new fashions. people were not affraid to experiment, shock, rebel or push boundaries.

can you or anyone seriously compare the last ten years to the period i cited? i see no drive, no buzz no excitement, no new styles of music and associated fashion. some blame modern technology, i blame the snowflake generation that us boomers and gen x created for having no balls.

MMBS is OK. All of the beeb's comedy & entertainment shows for me range from poor to OK nowadays - there's little stand out, must see stuff unlike in the past.

I attended schools during the 70's and left mid 80's. The bulk of my school years were in the 1970's.

Comedy styles come and go, in and out of fashion. It has nothing to do with snowflakes. At the time of The Office and The Royale Family it was thought sitcoms filmed infront of an audience were dead in the water. Today there are a few sitcoms filmed in front of an audience.

The only show from your list that could have been deemed controversial show was Brass-eye. Then the only controversy around the show was due to tabloids strirring things up with faux outrage. Mainly the right wing media.

No I do get it, You are getting older. You are now a generations out of touch with the 'yoof' Just as every generation is as they get older. You want tastes to change back so you have something you can relate to. The kids have moved on, nothing you can do about. They have their culture.. From Game Of Thrones to The Inbetweeners. There is so much of it. Try You Tube if you want a nostalgia trip. Thing's ain't as funny, music ain't as good, grass ain't as green.

I don't find anything from those days offensive. It's the TV from my childhood. It's all been done though. It's old hat. Just as many things are from those eras.





As far as the charts are concerned? You can blame mass corporate manipulation of music for that. From TV to Radio. You can blame record companies after a sure fire hit with a cover version rather than nurturing a new artist. The entire nature of the music landscape has changed for many reasons. Nothing to do with snowflakes.


Would you be shocked in 2016 to see a male musician dressed as a woman? What about a female musician dressed as a man? It's all been done. What about the odd naughty word in a song? Nudity, sexuality, sexual references. All been done. There is nothing left in music to shock, be it in fashion or the music itself. How groundbreaking would a band singing about politics be in this day in age? What about screaming and swearing. Would that be deemed edgy in 2016.
