I think they should drop the phone texting nonsense.

Not sure if Unexpected Star is supposed to be a talent spotting exercise, or simply to allow that person to have a dream experience? Either way, I didn't feel entirely comfortable with a 12 year old up there.

The only good thing about Russell Howard is the fact he wasn't on stage for long.

One Republic were the highlight of the show...very good.

Who beat X Factor last night for viewers?

Viewers who do not like MM can switch over, so the rest of us can watch it.

I honestly think his comedy material is running out.

This should never have been re-commissioned. Poor format and lowest common denominator content.

Not even good enough for ITV, let alone BBC1.

Agreed!

Good show again as last week, I like it all although there were times when MM seemed to be needlessly shouting which, as much as I do like him, I find annoying when it doesn't seem to be required. Roll on next week's.

Terrible show again as last week. I hate it. Let's hope it's cancelled before next week's.

The strangest post ever. "I" hate it so "Let's" hope it gets cancelled.

Or....well, you know what I'm going to say don't you?

Funny as one person doesn't like it, but six million watch it, they think the rest of us should be deprived of it, rather than them use a remote.

The British public certainly shouldn't be subjected to poor quality tosh like this - it may get some people starting to believe that it passes as adequate entertainment in the 21st century - and it is irrefutably a long long way short of that.

Yet its the BBCs biggest Light Entertainment hit since The Voice was launched 6 years ago. And its very much a hark back to the old days of Morecombe and Wise variety shows (bit of comedy, audience interaction, silly games etc....) It's certainly not unique to the 21st Century.

I also think you're confusing opinion with fact. You simply cannot state it isn't 'adequate entertainment' if other people (including me) are entertained by it. If you don't like it, thats perfectly fine, but don't go judging other people for liking a bit of light hearted frothy TV.

I think the state should control the media and only allow programmes that they think are suitable for people to watch. Like they do in some other countries.

Try Googling "Panem et circenses".

I'm sure Michael McIntyre's Big Show would be on Theresa May's list of programmes suitable for people to watch. Not particularly subversive even with Russell Howard as guest comedian.

That was the worst part. Russell Howard. All this endless shouting. It was like watching a deranged individual out on the street except Russell gets paid for it while the audience are halved in two.

Saturday

Family entertainment with Michael McIntyre, featuring performances from singer-songwriter Tom Odell and queen of comedy Sarah Millican. One unsuspecting member of the public gets the surprise of their life when they become the unexpected star of the show, there is new comedy material from Michael himself, and Carol Vorderman hands over her phone in Celebrity Send to All.
