Isn't a 40 meant to be "perfect"?

How could they award Danny a perfect score, when he messed up the swivel section?

I remember Craig once saying that he will give a 10 when he's swept away during a dance and not thinking about the technical stuff.

I don't think a Strictly 40 has ever been perfect as such. It's a dance that is amazing for a non-pro and comes together on the night. I don't always agree with when they are and aren't given out but I don't think this one was contentious in the light of the overall high scoring of the evening. Still don't know why his QS didn't get 40, mind...

Agree they are not professional dancers.

I agree 100%, BUT it's unfair to pick on Danny as the scoring across the board was ridiculous tonight.

No. Not at all, especially in recent years.
Abbey is my favorite strictly contestant but even I have to admit that her 40 for her strictly Salsa wasn't really a 40. Danny is my favorite this year but I don't think that this dance was absolute perfection either. As soon as Claudia scored a 36 for that mediocre jive, I knew that the scoring would be crazy. After that it was only fair to give ore a 38 and Danny a 40.

If anything I think that poor Ed got shafted . He was undermarked in comparison to everyone tonight. A 4 ? Cmon Craig !!!!

I don't think there's any such thing as a 'perfect' dance, certainly not in the context of celebs learning routines. Faults can always be found if one wants to look for them.

Danny and Oti's routine was by far the most polished tonight and in comparison with dances that scored four 9s, I can live with four 10s

The judges had gone so over the top for the earlier dancers that they had little choice but to go all out for Danny, since (IMO) he was by far the best of the night.

I thought it was unfair compared to Claudia being pulled up for mistakes but still a great dance.

That said in 2012 semi finals, Louis danced a not quite sharp jive but reasonably competent just before Lisa danced a salsa where she literally couldn't get up from the floor at one point and Craig scored them the same so I don't pay that much attention any more.

That said, he's in the right position on the leaderboard.

Danny was overscored but then they all were so it has evened itself out in rather appalling fashion.

I never compare one year with another (like Jays jive over Ore's etc) just go on the show so compared to the other marks Danny was top and whilst it wasn't perfect was the best on the night so fair enough

Was going to mention this comment exactly

And can see why he got swept away during that dance tonight, it was a gem.

I think the only problem with his dance is that he was a bit out of synch with Oti in a couple of sections, other than that it really was the best dance of the night.

Rubbish, the judges have always been over critical of Danny, and have picked on the smallest errors up until this evening.

His four tens were well earned.

Not undermarked this week then, that's a relief.

Seriously they have to pick up on small mistakes to make the competition interesting.

Not sure you can ever have a 'perfect' dance? Probably always something that could have been better. But in strictly terms I think Danny definitely deserved to be top of the leaderboard as his and Oti's dance was the best on the night.

After that mediocre jive from Claudia and A.J received four 9's, Danny most certainly DID deserve four tens.
