Isn't a 40 meant to be "perfect"?

Danny was overscored but then they all were so it has evened itself out in rather appalling fashion.
Basically this

How could they award Danny a perfect score, when he messed up the swivel section?
How could he have messed up? I thought he was supposed to be a professional?

IMO, a 10 means "better than a 9; but not necessarily faultless."

I haven't seen the dances yet; but if Danny's Charleston is clearly higher than a 9; then he deserves the 10s he got.

It reminded me of Pixie Lott's Charleston. It was a classy, content filled routine - but some very clear sync issues.

I agree on the whole, but for some and Craig he says he wants perfection and a dance that he is swept away in.

To be honest it lacked swivel, yes, but there was also a few mistakes, especially with the timing between the two of them. It was quite obvious, so was surprised with Craig's ten, not the others as they had nowhere to go after Claudia's inflated nines for her mistakes and bad jive technique.

Irrespective of issues, it was a fab dance with loads of content and Danny danced it extremely well.

His Paso deserved a 10 and possibly his Jive, but this really didn't.

If I was there I would have given it a 10, so sucks to you
same I don't spot any mistakes, I thought it was perfect and if I didn't know I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the pro and celeb so perfectly justified IMO

I agree, and I wouldn't have grumbled about a perfect score for his Quickstep either. This didn't seem like the dance for it. Still, he was brilliant to watch.

Look, if someone thinks something is worth a 10 they should give it, if others don't that is fine, I know we have different views but all in all, anyone is entitled to give any score they want even if we don't agree with them, we just have to beg to dither.

Also, WHENEVER 40 has been given, there is always this debate.

Well, yes, people are begging to differ! Objectively, there were sync issues.

His Quickstep was amazing but suffered from the "too early for a 10" curse :s

I didn't see a mistake, maybe the judges didn't either - all depends on what you're watching at any given point!

Anyway, he deserved the score in the sense that it put him top of the leaderboard with a gap between him and second, which was what his performance deserved - he was head and shoulders above everyone else tonight.

I don't think getting a 10 means the dance was perfect. It means the judges couldn't have expected anything more from someone who was (or is supposed to be) a beginner.

The problem at Blackpool was they marked Claudia and AJ so high for a basically awful jive that they had nowhere else to go for those who danced better, but to dish out the 10s.

Was it not the week Ore got three of them?

I agree the QS should have gotten tens, one of the best quicksteps ever on SCD for me.

Actually, I retract my statement. Watching it back again on Youtube, there aren't really any glaring errors - so I suppose I can't bemoan a perfect score - it was a great dance

I thought it was as near perfect as anyone could expect from the "amateur". I watched it again and it appeared flawless to me. That wouldn't mean a lot, but when Len says it was difficult to differentiate between the pro and the contestant, it must have been something really special.

Danny's was absolutely the best dance of the night. Deserved the 40
I don't like the Charleston and normally find "something else to do" whilst it's being performed but even I enjoyed that one last night and said to the missus "that will be 10's across the board".

You caught that before I did.

Obviously it was too early to give Danny 10's, but Ore can get three for a floppy-footed jive. (Yes, I'm still seething over that.)

A 10 in Strictly doesn't have to be a technically perfect dance because it's not a professional dance competition, just a dance that blows away the judges in terms of content and performance.

No one ever gives a perfect performance, not even World Champions.

I enjoyed Danny's performance, but not as much as his Quickstep. I would not comment on it technically since I do not know much about Charleston.

Looking at the other dances, I have no problems with his and Oti's relative placing. I'm not too fussed about the actual score.
