Those who identify as neither male or female, who would they be paired up with?

Is there a celeb you have in mind?

A transgender contestant should have the partner they choose, I would say. Is that what you mean? Or do you mean someone who is aromantic? It's such a complex and variable question. I doubt there is a one size fits all answer

Up to them I suppose. It doesn't sound like a one size fits all situation.

On a side note, I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of same sex spin off show as a special. Given the number of gay men in particular who are involved in the dance world then it seems unfair not to allow the opportunity.

No, I mean the non-binary kind. Jack Monroe for example.

I've no idea who that is, but if they supposedly identify as neither male nor female, then this clearly isn't the show for them, as they'd have to identify as one or the other in order to learn the correct steps to either lead or follow. Well, maybe not identify, but they'd still have to pick a lane and stick with it for the duration of that week.

Presumably the contestant, having expressed enough desire to take part and knowing the question would be raised, would be asked which role they'd like to take in the dances and paired with a male or female professional as a result. Seems simple enough to me.

I know Jack watches Strictly, s/he (they) occasionally tweets during the show.

If someone's trans-gender, wouldn't they take part as the gender they identify with? So a man transitioning to a woman would have a male partner?

Edited: Sorry OP, you said what if they didn't identify with any particular gender didn't you? It's a tough one - I just don't know!

I agree - I think they'd just ask them if they would like to dance as a lead or a follow and assign a partner based on that.

Or Melissa, which is her real name
Jack has legally changed her name - so your statement is incorrect. And FYI it is also offensive to refer to trans people by their birth name. There's plenty written about why on the internet if you wanted to look into it.

The BBC will think they'll lose some viewers, so it will never happen.

Is it offensive to refer to Donald Trump as Drumpf?

I suspect you're right. They've already refused to have same sex couples. They say “The show has chosen the traditional Latin and Ballroom format of mixed-sex couples.” Dancing with the Stars in the US has featured a same sex couple.

I believe there was one male pair wanting it, but I think they didn't want to stick with the lead and follow convention. Might be misremembering though.

CJ de Mooi (former egghead) maintains he was rejected by the BBC because he wanted a same sex partner, but the BBC says he was never asked to take part.

Craig has said it's on the cards, and Robin Windsor has suggested there should be a same sex couple on one of the special shows to test the waters.

If the BBC are rejecting same sex couples, then I can't see them even considering a gender neutral celeb.

I don't think he did or ever will, judging by the tone of his posts...
