Just rewatching tonight's show and noted Darcy saying that it was hard to decide who wasn't the professional (or words to that effect).

Bearing in mind Danny has appeared in a West End Musical, is he actually more professional than Oti?

I'm not saying he is a better dancer than his partner but as the all round package?

Thoughts please

Oti has done the best choreography every week, she is the best, Darcy will not be able to sleep well tonight for that stupid comment.

One of the judges mentioned the West End as well, think it was Bruno.

I'd be very surprised if that was Oti's choreography tonight.

Yep, a second rate show backing dancer. Pro though.

Oti is something else.

I like Oti a lot but her legs are so bandy, it's very distracting.

I Think Oti has done the best choreography for her partner this year compared to a lot of them, If I didn't know I wouldn't tell the difference between Danny and Oti

Let's see if this thread gets closed?

But yes, he is a professional already and has worked professionally in the world of dance before he was famous and has been in west end shows, so it's easier for him to produce west end standards as that should be his base standard to begin with.

Yes, she has done some lovely dances, but I doubt she did this as she doesn't know the Charleston, she would most likely have someone in to teach them this dance.

The judges often flatter the contestants and this can either go down very well with the public or very badly.

Can you substantiate the statement in bold? I know he was an understudy for a role in Wicked and was in Les Mis as a child. He also did 6 weeks in Legally Blonde but I am unsure as to how much dancing the role of Warner did?

So, how has he worked professionally in the world of dance compared to, say, Louise (Italia Conti trained, pop star...)

I like to see the celebs make progress. He has made much less than others so he is less interesting.
There's a competition, then there's Danny who will probably win.

How do you know that?

They say that about the best Strictly contestants and he is up there.

His dance average is 35.11 already nearly in the top 10. He could be the first man to beak the 36 point average barrier.

Can you all bore off with your anti-Danny threads. Love Danny & Oti, they're a joy to watch. I don't care where Danny has danced before, he is brilliant. D&O for the Glitterball

He's as polished as they come but his dancing's too clinical and bot-like for me. Luckily, Oti's the most watchable being on the planet so I spend most their routines with my eyes fixed on her.

Don't be ridiculous - Oti has had years of training in how to dance and perform dances. Danny learnt a bit of dancing at stage school once upon a time, same as about 50% of the contestants Strictly's ever had. His experience of being in a musical undoubtedly helps the performance aspect, but no more than anyone else who has acting or singing experience. Wicked isn't a dance-heavy musical either.

Yes, Danny and Oti were incredibly in sync tonight, they'd clearly worked very hard on ensuring that was the case. But professional in the true sense? No, of course he's not, and I don't think Darcey meant that either - she was talking about one specific performance.

He's a great dancer but not a professional. I don't actually think that was his best dance, but pretty fab. I also think he's made a lot of progress, starting from a high point admittedly but still getting better. Probably still won't vote for him, though. I prefer others. But cannot see the point in going over and over this. He's obviously going to improve just like everyone else, but that doesn't make him a professional.

You don't have to read them, this is a discussion forum and this thread I don't think is anti Danny.

Louise never worked in dance, a pop star is not working in the world of musicals.

To be involved in west end productions, even and sometimes especially as an understudy and without being already famous, you have to be very, very good at dancing, to a certain standard so you can assume the roles.

He's well trained, I don't know why people have to deny it, it seems odd when they clearly are. Even if you love them, I was routing for Natalie to win, I didn't deny she had extensive training, she said herself, until she had a major back problem, her goal was to be a dancer as a career.

3 anti-Danny threads already closed by admin tonight. And this thread was started saying exactly the same as those ones. That's what I was referring to. It's getting tedious. There is already a long thread somewhere for folk to have a whinge about previous training/dance experience.

Bores me a bit too.

But good dancer.
