God knows what all that was about. It did seem very dictatorial. Maybe they have a routine and he is the designated reader. We only see about 40 minutes of camp life out of every 24 hours - a lot of that time is trials. We are lucky if we get about 20 minutes of actual camp life interaction. Maybe it shall remain one of the jungle's unanswered questions.

Maybe if the oafish Baker was not trying to take over and be boss of everything the usually good natured Larry would not have done it

Larry had already subtly put him in his place way before the paper thing.

Hasn't Lisa been reading it previously so it's done that the chef let's everyone know what they're having?

I recall someone saying, could have been Larry, that it's the chef's job to read out the letter accompanying the food.

Yep, two other people have a strop and it's Danny's fault, Rolleyes

It may be the norm in camp for the chef to read the announcement, but after all Martin is a newbie so wouldn't have been aware of this; Larry just snatching it from him was very rude.

I like Larry, but I think the group are starting to lose a sense of themselves, and what started out as all nicey nicey turns into something else and a bit more authoritarian.
It doesn't matter who reads it out.
I think it showed a glimmer of an us versus them mentality, in group out group. Danny seems to have integrated well but I think it was an opportunity to turn on Martin.

You can see it with Joel, who seemed to have been sniping about Martin a lot on last night's show. Which is a bit disappointing as I usually like Joel too.

When you see group dynamics like this on reality shows it doesn't always stop. They often end up finding any excuses to castigate and discredit the outsider over the most insignificant things.

Agreed - next they'll be needing a conch shell to determine who reads it out.

I wasn't expecting that from Larry & was a bit surprised he could have just asked Martin for the paper. Don't know why they are all picking on Martin maybe because he snores but he can't help that or maybe because he was the only one to have the balls to tell the yellow team to stop gloating, I'm glad he did that. The only way Martin can turn it around is if he manages to get all the stars in the trial he will be a hero then.

Nice to see Larry apologise for snatching the paper from Martin.

Yes, he's a decent bloke. Martin would try the patience of a saint.

Yes it was. And with Lisa dismissing the assumption that it's the chef who reads out the menu, it makes Larry's behaviour seem all the more petty, which is a shame, as I enjoyed watching Larry up until then. No wonder Martin was confused by Larry's actions.

The original campmates will be in shaky territory soon if they continue to use Martin's initial disagreeable behaviour as an excuse for their continued impatience with him. If he carried on behaving that way, they would be justified. But I get the feeling that first impressions have lasted for a few of them, even though Martin has taken some steps to make up for upsetting the apple cart when he first arrived.

Obviously we're seeing the edited version, so for all I know, Martin might be a PIA for 23 hours of the day and spend the 24th hour apologising for it, which is shown on the highlights!
