Emmerdale: Rebecca's motives
Really liking this character so far, her and Robert have good chemistry and she makes him an intresting chacther again as opposed to the romanticised dullard he's recently been.
However I don't really understood her motivation. Her plan seems to be to remove chrissie from Lawrence so she can inherit he money, I don't get why she thinks chrissie getting sent down will achieve this as Larry would still leave her what he intended to in his will anyway surely? And how does seducing Robert help her get the money surely it would have the adverse affect? |

Perhaps she thinks being his real daughter she deserves the money more than Chrissie.

It's so that MyBex and I can live happily ever after on our Yorkshire country estate. We have to get rid of Woolcap and Lady Tightjumper first.

Well she arrived at the behest of Robert and in order to clear Andy's name but I don't think that is her motivation. She wants Home Farm, all her Dad's money and attention, Chrissie out of the way and Lachlan to herself. I think she wants Chrissie's place basically which I suppose would include Robert too however it's hard to square having Robert and her Dad's good will so she either hasn't thought that through or that particular story line is more about throwing upset and concern Robron's way.
It's not a well thought strategy or story line to be honest. I do like her though so hope that some actual thought has gone into her being allowed to hang around long term. ETA Not to be with Robert though as that would just make him a complete pantomime character with no ability to have feelings at all and I really like Robert so would want a bit more from and for him. |

Rebecca's motives appear to be to get into her sister's death wish list, Lawrence's chequebook and Robert's pants, in no particular order. Beyond that is anyone's guess but she's doing a pretty good job of the first one. And hopefully even better with the third

Him being seduced by Rebecca's offer of sex and money would be the real Robert, not this boring disneyesque version who can only stay faithful when he's in a relationship with a man. He may not have had any genuine feelings for chrissie but he did for Katie and he still couldn't stay faithful. Those who watched the show back then know he was mad about Katie to the point he was willing to give up his family for her, yet he couldn't stay faithful to her. So why would it be pantomime and out of charcther for him to do this to Aaron. It would actually be the most honest representation of him they could show. |

.Doesn't matter either way, tptb have already informed us there will be a wedding and they're fans of Robron, good way to ruin a running narrative. |

I'm guessing you only want the third just for aarons reaction? I wonder if he'd see it as deserved karma or himself as a poor little victim. Chrissie couldn't complain either after she hooked up with Roberts brother him doing the same with her sister means she would have to lump it.

Because he has cheated non stop he would become a pantomime character with no growth if he continues to do so after his bisexuality has been exposed and used as a reason for his inability to commit and be himself. If he is still a recalcitrant cheat then fair enough but personally I'd go off him a bit.
I watched the show back then and he was one of may favourite characters then too. The fact that the first relationship he was able to stay faithful in is the one where he's with a man would just be playing up to the misconception that bisexual men are gay men in denial. |

Yeah that's too bad. Narrative-wise it would be much more interesting to have Rebecca and Robert end up together: their personalities go together more and it would be a good karma storyline for Aaron.
He didn't go with Aaron because he realised that he was what really wanted, he went with him because he knew there was no way back in with chrissie. |

Why not put him with Bex with whom he is much more intresting and has the scope for more exciting storylines and be faithful to her rather than a dull stepford husband to Aaron. The most interesting phase of this Robert was when he first arrived, and was lording it over everyone.

I think she's quite jealous of Chrissie, how Laurence defends Chrissie no matter what, and is acting out due to that. She also has a hot spot for Robert, so seducing him is an extra addition.

I don't find the chemistry between Robert and Bex particularly sizzling, they work better as allies, the banter between the two is good. When she tries to kiss him, she comes across as a cringy, spoilt kid. People only want the two to get together as they are not fans of Robert and Aaron as a couple.
I think Robert had much better chemistry with Chrissie. Anyway, I have no idea what her main motif is - she's still besotted with Robert but she's after her father's money and wants Chrissie out the way. I think she genuinely cares for Lucky though. |

Funnily enough - its the Robert / Aaron fans who claim there's no chemistry - I wonder why that is
