I think it's a bit broader than that as both John Barrowman and Bonnie Langford competed in Dancing on Ice and I think they were both reckoned to be too experienced as dancers to compete in SCD. I know JB did a Christmas competition but that's a bit different to the main show.

I've got a say that's the example that bucks the trend completely! Although her QS last week was a triumph of choreography and performance over dance so maybe it does fit.
