SCD should be re named after Big Ed Balls as it seems they want him to win it.
Always a comedy routine so he can't be marked on dance skill but just clowning about.
Fun,fun,fun .

Cant fault him for effort, enthusiam or entertainment value though, he won't win but he might be in the last 3/4

Viewers voting fault.

he gets my vote

he is dancing, learning and entertaining

3 ticks in my book

sorry if you don't like him but the majority of the public would seem to disagree with you - thats why he is still on the show

he isn't the best dancer, he knows that more than anyone BUT he is giving it 100% and dancing to the best of his ability

no-one can ask for any more from him, he is doing recognised steps and learning choreography that Katya is creating for him

well done Ed - you are doing great

EDIT - oh, and if "they" wanted him to win surely the judges would be "instructed" to give him higher scores he has been bottom of the leader board, every single week - the public are voting to keep him in and they must be voting in the millions!

Eds not dancing with a Clifton so it cant be rigged for him to win surely. As I thought it was rigged for a Clifton to win.

How can it be rigged when apart from one week Ed has always been the lowest on the leader board so can only be saved by the public vote. Oh silly me thats obviously rigged too.

Long live Ed

I'm sure some of the voting is for Katya, as well. Popular couple, as Brucie would have said

Who is "they" according to you?

He is being kept in by people who vote for him in large numbers and they have every right to do so.

*waves to Jan*, havent seen you on the forums for a while

you must be pleased to see Gethin being given a presenting role- he's doing well isnt he?

completely agree with you about Ed, have just been tweeting TashaonTV , who is baffled anyone is voting for Ed, telling her all the reasons us Ed fans are voting

think we'll have to endure this every week for as long as Ed is in , and hopefully to the final

Just expressing my opinion.
Maybe it's not allowed to criticise Big Ed.
Actually I hope he does well because he's a trier and a fine human being who should be back in parliament with the rest of the fingers and comics.

The on-going popularity of Ed Balls is madness! GBP have lost their minds.

I find him totally boring and cringe-worthy....my opinion of which I am entitled to.

I agree. People say its because he's trying and he's enjoying himself but they all are!

Ed appeals to a certain type of viewer, he'll be quickly forgotten when he eventually is out, or wins it.

I watch every year and I cannot remember any of the winners but I can remember Anne Widdicombe and John Sergeant. And I will never forget Ed Balls.

Hiya

Yes Im pleased to be seeing Geth and that he will be in the Christmas special too.

Re Ed we have this every year with someone or other. I would much rather watch and support someone like Ed or Greg for that matter who has had absolutely no dance experience and tries hard to improve without loosing sight that the audience also wants entertainment.

Personally I doubt he will make the final, the fewer people there are left the harder it is for the person at the bottom of the leader board to avoid the dance off.

I blame Katya.
First rule when you get a comedy contestant or an old duffer is to get them to do nothing and draw attention to yourself by whirling and thrashing about in a revealing costume.
She was never supposed to actually teach him some routines and throw the spotlight on his capacity to entertain through dance.
Someone didn't brief her properly.

I could sort of see the entertainment value of Sargent and Widdecombe, but the fascination with Ed Balls escapes me.

He's not even embarrassed to stay when good dancers go. Claudia Winkleman said to him, "Ed, you scored 23, it is week 9, on behalf of you and Katya what would you like to say to the viewing public', hoping, I suspect, that he would take the opportunity to apologise for still being there and plead with them to only vote for the far better performers. No such luck, he thanked them, said he was having a wonderful time, and told them he did not want it to stop.

I think he'll be in next week's DO (along with The Judge) and leave. Can't see him getting any further tbh....

I usually hate the idea of a 'fun, fun, fun' candidate, or a 'people's champion'...
But I find Ed Balls different.
He does actually dance and keep in time. Okay, he has a long way to go to getting the moves to look good, but he does them. You can see that he makes sure that he learns his routine and is disappointed in himself if he makes a mistake - other 'hopeless but fun' candidates didn't appear that concerned.
Perhaps that's the attraction to those who vote for him?

He did that because it's not his fault that he is still there - he's doing exactly what is asked of him, it's the voting public that is keeping him there.

I must admit I look forward to what he will do every week, although I've never voted for him as I always vote for the better dancers.
