I never like to see one person being more or less isolated from the group but, God, he's annoying.

Does the same apply to Scarlett, and Jordan, and Wayne - and everyone who cries in there?

He has no social intelligence, a real David Brent character.

I know someone who's never cried in her life and she's psycopathic. Utterly devoid of any compassion whatsoever. An empty, cold vessel. *shudder*

From what you've written you would seem perfectly suited, no?
Of course there's nothing wrong with crying and letting go of the old emotions, but this whole reality show nonsense where they blub at the smallest slight is garbage and cynical. Ultimately they're on a silly reality show for a couple of weeks and being paid handsomely for it, maybe they should man up a little. Baker survived cancer, I'm pretty sure the sight of a grown man whingeing and blubbing because he was scolded for not doing his chores wound him up something rotten, and rightfully so. |

It's fascinating. Very Lord of the Flies. He had a bad entrance (not that he did anything particularly awful, but little things matter in that close environment). His co-joiner, Danny, clearly doesn't like him and has a much more forceful personality. So the herd has unquestioningly adopted Danny and his attitude towards Martin.
There's been a definite ganging up on Martin - at least as the show's edit presents it. Some of it open, some of it behind his back as shown by the direct-to-camera comments. And yet it's hard to see how and why it's happened - it must be down to the unaccustomed situation they're all in and the fact he's a late arrival. As you say, little things matter. And in contrast, Danny has been able to fit in and seem like the good guy although in fact he's quite unpleasant. The shouting at Martin this evening was completely uncalled for and way over the top. Even his tone of voice was weird, nothing like the way he sounds on the radio. That said, Martin does somewhat bring it on himself. He's not very self aware, or aware of other people's feelings, doesn't know when to shut up. The sarcastic little I-don't -mean-it-but-I-do-really comments seem to have set even our genial hosts Ant & Dec against him. He reminds me of the bullied kid in school who you felt sorry for, but you could kind of see why they were bullied. |

So without even meeting me in person, knowing anything about me and from one comment on a forum you're convinced I'm a psychopath. I didn't realise I was conversing with Sigmund Freud, nice to meet you, love your work.

Whoa steady.on fella - where did I say you were a psychopath?! Tell you what though, you're coming across as very self-indulgent and I don't give a toss about you and your personal problems. It's a forum about a game show not a Dear agony aunt page, so I'll leave you to your ramblings.

I've been thinking a lot of Lord of the Flies the last couple of days. I suppose it's always somewhat relevant to this programme but I think you've summed up this particular situation very well.

I quite like him for stirring things up a bit.
The camp was like one big, boring happy family before he came in. |

I don't think happy equals boring, I was enjoying it (minus Scarlett), it reminded me of the early days where not everything was contrived towards a favourite or confrontation. I cracked up over the morse trial and loved the dollar challenge with Carol and Joel. Good, honest fun.

Martin has already been more entertaining and generated more interest than the original camp-mates put together

When I warched Martin crying, I immediately thought - this isn't just about today's confrontation but something deeper and wondered if this scenario was taking Martin back to unhappy childhood days where perhaps he was bullied, and the pain if that has resurfaced.

More airtime for these please, hopefully one of them will be voted next leader. Please let it not be Danny. |

I feel sorry for him. They've set their minds against him and nothing he does is going to right now. I know he sometimes gets in his own way, yes he has a sarcy tone, but he doesn't deserve to be the villain in there. It's put me off everyone, to be honest.
