What there is to say, is that the others, having seen how quickly and joyously Danny Baker likes to belittle people, are keeping their mouths shut so that they don't have to suffer the same.
I agree - The way Danny spoke to him was totally unnecessary. I'm not a fan of Martin's, he's a bit too highly strung for my liking, but I felt a bit sorry for him after that verbal battering. He doesn't seem to have bad feelings towards anyone. I think he may have felt that by doing the trial, he'd done his bit for the camp for the day and was obviously pleased with himself for overcoming his fear of confined spaces. Way to bring a person down Danny Baker.

Martin comes across as petulant and precious but I really felt for him when he broke down, he was genuinely distressed. Danny could have handled it better I guess, but he was clearly staking his support for the chosen one. Gameplaying there by Danny.

I've posted about this upthread but I'll just leave it here:

Well the difference being that Scarlett didn't agree with what Martin was saying (and therefore didn't want to be brought into the argument by association) whereas she had already asked Martin to pull his weight and he had ignored her so she was happy for Danny to step in.

Martin being the tool that he is still didn't get the hint and sat there fanning the fire!
Bit in bold. They came back to camp and Adam started gloating. Scarlett had a go at Adam - for gloating. Martin lectured them for gloating. Scarlett told him off for speaking for her because, apparently, she was upset with her own performance, not with the gloating.

She's a liar, on top of everything else.

They are both as bad as each other. Martin has shown himself as a whiny old goat, but he knows that'll get him some camera time.

But what is it to the camp whether Martin finishes his food??

Just a thought but didn't Danny say to Scarlett when he went in that she would win. Perhaps hes aligning himself to her because he thinks the public will like him.

What he doesn't realise is that people are going off her now.

What do you think.

Not sure if he's being bullied, but he's definitely the group scapegoat. They will all jump on any perceived infraction on his part, no matter how trivial, and almost obsess over it. It's like they are bitching over Martin as a way of bonding. As a group they are way over the top with all the happy-smiley-we-love-each other stuff, I think they are using Martin as a way to paper over the cracks, projecting everything negative onto him.

I don't particularly like Martin but I do feel sorry for him, the way he was crying around the fire tonight, he was like a child in a mans body.

Yep, said as much a few posts earlier. Definitely gameplaying there by Danny.

Why do people always think tears are childish? As an adult, you are never meant to show emotion and just get on with things? Not sure I agree with that.

I think Danny goes into attack mode when he sees someone behaving badly. I liked the controlled anger.

He saw Martin behaving badly, so he attacked. Martin deserved it. Actually the others seemed to agree that Martin had been asked many times to get water, and he ignored the requests.

I don't think Martin had a leg to stand on.

I don't think Danny Belittles people at all. He actually used his rant to big up Scarlet, he was protecting her and defending her. And Danny's aggression told Martin that if he wants to disrespect people in some way, then he will be pulled up on it in no uncertain terms.

I get the feeling that Martin is rarely opposed by anyone in his private and professional life, but in the camp he is going to have to adjust pretty quickly.

People may want to hate Scarlet, but on this occasion it looks like she was right.

Firstly, how did Martin behave badly? He had won eight stars that morning in one of the toughest trials I ever remember on the show. He had been mocked and sneered at for telling the story of the trial; when others are considered highly amusing for turning it into a maths problem! He was one of TWO people charged with getting water and Adam made it very clear when they eventually went for the water that he had been lax in refilling it too.

Secondly - and more importantly - bit in bold. Do you remember the very first thing Danny said when he arrived? He said that Scarlett had it won and the rest of them might as well go home. Do you think there might be something ulterior about his attitude towards her?

This!

Some very delicate flowers knocking about - makes you wonder if they ever go outside in the real world where people have discussions like that all the time
If someone spoke to me like Baker did to Martin tonight they would get a punch in the face to be honest.

For sure, Danny had staked his support for her even before he went in, these confrontations are all about his gameplaying.

Bullied? No I don't think so. However, I only get to see an hour of his behaviour on the show each night and he's coming across as a massive irritant, I imagine being with him 24/7 would cause a few nerves to fray. Also despite the back-slapping lovey-fest they tried to play up in the first few days it's a show that is ultimately a personality contest and these showbiz types with their egos are pretty ruthless, they're just throwing who they perceive to be the weak link onto the proverbial sword.

Martin was singled out, Whereas something should have been said about Adam as well.
Danny totally made him out to be the bad guy and humiliated him and everyone else played along.

I very much doubt it. If this upsets and offends them then god knows hows they get about their daily lives.

This! I think they're all a bit scared of him to be honest and let's not forget he's a friend of carols too

I find Carol quite insipid and does not really have anything to say.

I hope Danny does not laugh and take the p#*$ when his mate Paul Gascoigne is having a moment.

I've followed Danny's career for years and I don't think for one minute he is "playing a game", he's not like that. He is just being himself, take the piss like Martin did in that way and he'll give you his tongue. Once Martin came back with the water it will have been forgotten.

The comment to Scarlett at the start is because he knows how these shows work. had seen the first few shows and seen she is the chosen one through the edit. It was a jokey comment. People read so much into the smallest throwaway comment.

Adam should have held his hand up instead of waiting until they were collecting the water after

Im suprised Scarlett had no empathy with Martin at all as she has supposedly been in the position of been bullied and ostrazised from a group before
