It's nice to see old timers getting a chance to shine.
Let me know when you spot one, there's been none so far this year.

Rick Astley wasn't bad, but you wouldn't pay to go to see him would you?

I hesitate to point out that the Val Doonican Show was the very pinnacle of BBC Saturday nights until 1986 but ....
Awww - used to watch this with my Grandma before she died ....

Have to admit if Val occasionally pops up on the radio doing something like 'The Special Years' it still gets me even now.....

To answer the original post though - agree that the music matches the perceived audience demographic. Thought Rick Astley was pretty good actually

That Simple MInds performance was abysmal. As a pre-record, I am surprised the BBC put it out. They must surely have known how bad it was.
