Yes he must report it to the police. Why let idiot thugs get away with assault and bodily harm!

What an impression the world must be getting about Britain! Don't these thugs have anything better to do? This doesn't help Blackpool's image at all.

I really hope Gorka makes a speedy recovery and does come back next year - although I wouldn't blame him if he didn't.

Not sure if it was this incident, but saw the road cordoned off with multiple police vehicles so taxi had to divert, late Saturday night. What an horrendous thing to happen, I feel ashamed to be British sometimes.

Why would they? It didn't happen whilst he was at work. If I have to travel for work, what I do in the evening once work has ended is my choice and not the responsibility of my employer.

Hopefully he will have some kind of insurance.

I hope he gets well soon both physically and mentally after what has happened and it doesn't affect him in the future.

I also hope they find the animals that did it and punish them.

It would seem that Gorka and some of the other male pros were on their way into The Flamingo night club in Blackpool when this unprovoked attack occurred.
Blackpool is a dangerous place at night without heading for this dive.
Some of the others may not have known but Neil should have known better!!
This could have been so much worse.

They have just said on 'Breakfast' that he will appear (so I assume dance) next week, so that is good news.

Aljasz would probably have known too.

Very sorry for Gorka. Think this is a horrific event and the thugs get caught.
Hopefully the BBC will realise this is the end of Blackpool.

One attack will not make the BBC stop going to the home of ballroom. No doubt also Blackpool make big money from the show too, visitors coming up to see the ballroom etc.

Get well soon Gorka.

Nonsense.

British people get attacked or killed in other countries. It's idiots throughout the world doing wrong things, not just in the UK.

As it goes, I think these twunts who attacked Gorka should be thrown off the end of the pier with concrete attached to their legs, but I don't think people should be made to think they are unsafe to walk throughout the UK, because by and large, they're not.

Welcome to the new post Brexit Britain where thugs will think they have licence to attack foreigners. Perhaps he was perceived to speak with an accent. God help us all. He's a lovely addition to the show but he may wish to live and work in a more civilised country from now on. Get well Gorka, Jan B.

No. Stop talking our country down. As I say, thuggery isn't exclusive to Britain. I was severely beat up in Paris in 2002. I don't think France is an unsafe country but I do think it, like everywhere else, has its idiots.

You do not know why he was attacked. So stop making assumptions.

Blackpool can be pretty rough and intimidating even if you live in the UK. When I've gone to the Wintergardens I've stayed in the Imperial along the front and kept away from any nightlife in the centre.

Just so horrible to do that to anyone. . I do hope they get caught.

This is how it is in Blackpool, it's rough and you have to have your wits about you when you go out clubbing.

Is it right? No - Is it common place? Yes.

Poor Gorka, what a horrible introduction to post-Brexit Britain:

Assault isn't peculair to the UK, but it is a fact that hate crime such as racially motivated or homophobic attacks have risen sharply (41%) since Brexit. It's not "talking our country down" to point that out or correlate it with the attack on Gorka

We live in a democracy. This means we can say what we like about our own country as long as it doesn't contravene the law. Holding a mirror to what has happened to 'foreigners' since the Brexit vote is appropriate. It's not talking our country down!

Of course, as more information appears it should become clearer what happened and why.

Poor Gorka. No-one deserves to be beaten up just for going to a nightclub.

Although the physic wounds will heal, I hope he gets some sort of counseling to help heal the trauma of being attacked for no reason whatsoever.

I just think it is a bit opportunist to use Gorka's assault to make a political point. It may well be connected to Brexit, but Blackpool nightlife is also notoriously rough. Would it hurt to wait and find out a bit more about the background before coming to any conclusions?

Why would anybody want to attack the lovely Gorka? One of the best pros and seemingly a sweet natured guy. Hope he gets well soon.

Give over, it's nothing to do with Brexit. Unprovoked incidents have always happened, not just since June! Attacks happen the world over, this just happened to be on a person of interest to the press.the UK is a great country, safer than most.
