I have information that may be important to a case but not important enough to go outside and make an effort.
It's the police's fault for expecting otherwise. you could try the national link up there in evil c`s post. |

I'm editing my posts whilst you're quoting the non-edited ones. It's going to look funny if anyone else is reading this, still never mind.
That report I mentioned yesterday from HM Justice Inspectorate (HMJI) says "increasingly victims, witnesses or other third parties may report an incident online". They note that " ... all forces operate different processes for deciding if a crime should be recorded". I think it would be fair to deduce that the police are primarily focused on traditional methods of deciding and reporting. Doing it all online instead is low on the radar and they haven't got to grips with how it should be done. Instead we have this haphazard, disorganised approach where each force goes its own way, which is poor food for us. ]it`s very poor, the money spent on pointless pcc`s would be better diverted into some coherent, national network. |

I agree with you on moving up the priority rating for developing a coherent national strategy for online reporting, and I think they should consider a new strategy for emergency and serious crime reporting online too, with immediate response 24/7/365 and with the necessary support framework. But, I don't think you can pin it down to one method of modern policing as being the culprit, although you were just citing pcc's as an example I guess. I might be better going to see my MP instead and forget the radio. |

i think you should be more sympathetic to agoraphobics who don't possess a mobile phone. a parlous situation that must affect, at least 10s of people throughout the uk.

No the editing's my fault. I had to write out what I was going to say on the radio 5 times before I was satisfied, and notes all over the place, most of which I couldn't understand later because I'd written them so fast the first time before I forgot.

"a local elderly man is missing......."
How elderly? If he's a 100 he might just have climbed out the window. Could this be him? "Sitting quietly in his room in an old people's home, Allan Karlsson is waiting for a party he doesn't want to begin. His one-hundredth birthday party to be precise. The Mayor will be there. The press will be there. But, as it turns out, Allan will not.... Escaping (in his slippers) through his bedroom window, into the flowerbed, Allan makes his getaway. And so begins his picaresque and unlikely journey involving criminals, several murders, a suitcase full of cash, and incompetent police. As his escapades unfold, Allan's earlier life is revealed. A life in which - remarkably - he played a key role behind the scenes in some of the momentous events of the twentieth century." |

I was unfair to Ginger Daddy though who was only trying to help. If you see this Ginger Daddy I apologise. I can't undo what I wrote but I will wind my neck in, in future. |

I'll pm you from now on D, and thanks for your support. I do hope the missing man turns up. I'm sorry you've been subjected to attacks from other FMs as it was me not you who went off at a tangent, although it's proved to be enlightening. The evidence gathering and incident reporting network is flawed.
