Love Ed he will not make it to the final just because of the way voting goes. If there's 5 contestants the highest he can get is 6. He's been brilliant and has improved greatly.

Love him or loathe him Ed Balls has spoiled this series.

The series would have been very bland without him. Really look forward to his dance each week.

He started as a complete novice unlike a few others who are just like PROs ,,,, he entertains and seems to be having a ball

I like him and he's my second favorite after Danny but I don't really agree.

Danny , him and the judge made this series worth watching for me.

For me, he has brought nothing to the show.

Danny and Oti have made the series for me. They perform brilliant dances and have a good partnership.

Great dancers, as is Redknapp but not much charisma. Balls is a great orator and as a 48 year old, overweight guy who athletic persuit probably hasn't been high on the agenda for decades, if ever the lad has given it a good go. He has used his skills as an wordsmith to add a bit of fun and charisma to the standard soundbites.

In a show with two presenters who lack flair and spontenaity and other dancers not the most polished in front of the cameras, or big heads he has made the series.

What will be interesting now is the exit strategy, how will the BBC find a way to get him out.. If he wins the credibility has gone long term they can't risk that. Using the media won't work now the Balls train is moving too fast, will Ed develop an injury, be encouraged to fall over in his next dance, be given a dance so complex he has no chance of performing it, or just pack it in, or will they dare rig the vote. Or something else, nothing can be ruled out other than he will do as he is told.

I've loved watching him - he's a duffer, but one who has actually improved as well. I think he's doing a great job and he and Katya are a great, fun partnership. Watching them makes me smile and although there are others I want to win or get to the final, I'm glad that he's still in.

All this stuff (BIB) is irrelevant to me as I fast-forward through all the links, 'clauditorium' nonsense and musical guests. All I watch are the dances, judges' critique and scores. That's why contestants' personalities don't come into it for me. I don't care if Danny is as dull as ditchwater - he can dance. And I don't care if Ed Balls is the second coming of Oscar Wilde - He can't.
...and he needs to go.

Something else.
Either he won't poll enough public votes to over-ride his low judges scores and will be eliminated following a dance off or he will poll enough public votes and will go onto the final where only the public vote determines who wins.

Absolutely! Just what I feel. I cringe when I watch Ed - not Katya though.

I like Ed and think he has worked hard and improved. However, it is time for him to go now... and he will, as he won't be able to cope with 2 dances....RR ditto

The BBC has made this series.

And all the others.

Not for me, far from it. This is the first series in a long time where I have missed a couple of the live shows.

That isn't down to Ed though, although he's terrible in my opinion - I expected a little too much from this crop and it's been lacking some charismatic characters for sure.

Ed Balls is the official "joker" dancer for this year - but he has outperformed all the previous fat guys/fall guys and dolls. Far more nimble, a better performer and HE DANCES ON THE BEAT. That is important - seriously, it is important - particularly for Bruno, who sets great store by this.

Having said that, everybody was expecting the danceoff to be Ed and Greg, with Ed going gracefully with a wink and a smile. But the Unexpected Always Happens, in live TV.

Finally, when will all the furious naysayers understand that if they want to see a contestant leave, they should vote more for the others. An unbelievable number of people post and tweet that they don't bother to vote until the finals - maybe they can't afford the calls because they had to spend so much on twiglets and crisps and booze in order to be able to stay on the sofa watching the programme. So 2 packets fewer crisps, some exercise with phone keys, et voilą - the better dancers have a better chance of going through!

But when viewers decide they "cannot warm" to one of the better dancers because they are "smug", "fake" etc etc - then of course those who vote will go for the most entertaining, whatever their standard of technique.

So why are people so surprised, week after week, when that happens?

What's that got to do with anything? It's clearly not his dancing abilities that people are voting for.
who me?

I which case, I really think you are watching the wrong programme.

If the Beeb are found out to be rigging the show or manipulating the votes, then the fall out will not be pretty. The producers are, hopefully, aware of that and unless they are foolhardy will let the show take its course.

Ed Balls deep in trouble next week.

Actually, I think it's Ed and Katya that have made the series. She has given him great routines which are entertaining and has never lost her sense of humour or sparkle, whatever happens. Ed with another pro wouldn't have lasted as long I think.

(And they are my must watch every week, even though I will eventually end up voting for Danny and Oti I expect).

Totally agree. My mother votes for him every week. I have voted twice. What I like is that he does do some proper steps in every dance, not just comedy. I hope he gets to the final.

A few people at work have said this. They don't like Louise Redknapp and think it is rigged with her dancing with Kevin Clifton who they think is smug. So that is why they vote for Ed Balls and Rob Rinder.
