I suspect if you loathe Ed then he hasn't "made the series" no.

I'm not sure he will be, it just depends how popular Judgey and Claudia are. I have a feeling either one or both will be in the dance off this week. Ed seems to be getting the votes and I cant see that subsiding this week.

We may, however, have a shock and Ore, Louise or Danny could be in the dance off - that would certainly stir things up.

It would create outrages around the kitchen breakfast bars across the nation come Sunday. There will be toast spat out and stuck to the windows, coffee stains on the walls, the cat impaled on the door knob, the radio smashed into tiny pieces of silicon on the floor and children with their heads stuck through the panels of the door, whilst the husband looks on and thinks "Whatever".

Wrong.
I watch for the dancing. Strictly Come Dancing is all about the dancing for me.
I think the people who go on about it not being a dance competition and say they don't really judge on the dancing because they know nothing about it are the ones watching the wrong show. It's 90% dancing.

I think the success of this year's series has been everyone. They've all brought something different to the competition and it's been a real pleasure to watch (apart from the occasional blip).

There are several people "here" who know absolutely what these dances are supposed to be like, because they are accredited teachers. They seem to be perfectly happy with the format and that the dances are far from authentic, even by the leading slebs. If you want to watch proper Ballroom/Latin dancing, then SCD is ersatz.

I agree. I was not going to watch the show live this year (for the first time ever ) because I was fed up with what the producers have done to the show over the years, but I am so glad I watched the first show. What a great bunch of celebs this year and the new pros have fitted right in. It's not the most talented group, but I liked everyone taking part and how well they seem to get on with each other.

As for Ed, I usually detest the comedy turn, but apart from the week he did the Paso (less said the better), he's been a revelation and great to watch. He's turned from being a hated politician, to appearing very human and a likeable guy who can dance. I have even voted for him a couple of times (along with others). He won't get to the final, but he's been one of the highlights of the series for me.

Its almost become like snooker (bare with me) When SCD started there was the odd decent dancer and the rest were there to make up the numbers. Snooker in the late 70s-early80s was full of characters who would make 30s & 40 and there would be a battle on the colours. Now the standard is so high its a century break every other frame (so it seems)

SCD now has trained dancers a plenty who score 32/33+ in the first 2-3 weeks and its become rather samey samey and these dancers cant really improve because they are pretty damn good already. Balls- accepting he is the comedy figure this series has had a go AND IMPROVED (unlike other comedy figures) and I love watching him dance. he hasn't improved enough to deserve to win but has been a breath of fresh air. I think he may bow out this weekend

Oooh just heard Rinder has the rumba. That could give Ed another week methinks.

I certainly agree with what you say about the trained dancers, I'm afraid they bore me a bit this year cause you just know that they are going to produce a show stopper. I like more of the underdog. Sorry to see Greg go and I fear that Claudia and Judgey will be the next two. For me Ed would be the saviour then if he is still in.

When it comes to the final I usually have a favourite that I want to win and someone who I wouldn't mind if they did, but this year if Ore, Louise and Danny are in the final I don't think I will have any interest at all.

Just my opinion

Oh dear that should be interesting. Still I suppose he had to do it eventually - you never know he might surprise everyone.

Ed's salsa was probably one of the most entertaining dances ever, but on the whole Ed has been hit-and-miss for me.

Waltz - pleasant but uneventful
Charleston - ok, but slightly painful with dad dancing
Samba - quite funny
Paso - awful
American Smooth - awful
Cha Cha - alright, good performance
Quickstep - same as above
Salsa - great entertainment
Jive - not great technique and not as entertaining as some weeks

Nope, he's not in the he's so bad it's hilarious category and his improvement is matched by Rinder and Greg who can actually dance better. He reminds me of Mark Benson, could never see the appeal but at least I found Mark Benson somewhat likeable.
For Strictly to dig out a dance craze for Ed, from 4 year years ago that had been done to death a million times over was just desperate
I don't see him making the final especially if there is only three couples

(And they are my must watch every week, even though I will eventually end up voting for Danny and Oti I expect).”

Exactly! The naysayers forget that Ed's appeal is his partnership with the lovely Katya whose creativity and wonderful dancing are delightful.

This is a huge part of his (their ) appeal. They are a great partnership. She has done miracles with him. I always look forward to seeing what she has come up with and how Ed will rise to the challenge.

Exactly. And Ed himself always acknowledges that.

I don't think I'll ever be able to watch his Salsa without a huge smile on my face.

nah, Danny has made this series for me

Ed is over-hyped and really quite boring to watch

even his Gangnam salsa was lame

Not at all, no. This happens every year, a dancer so bad that everyone keeps voting for for a laugh, and I have to endure until they're done having their lulz.

I agree. I just look forward to his dances being over.

Danny and Claudia are my favourites, although I like Robert too.

I think he will be remembered more then the actual winner this year. Not by the hard core Strictly Fans. but by the general audience, sort of like John Sergeant and Widdy,

I don't think he will win however.

Ed is exactly what the show SHOULD be. Non dancers learning to dance.
