Robin wasn't in the place where the killer left him - he must have scarpered.

Why are the gays getting killed in one area - are they linked to each other?

Is the blond boy the killer "misses", his brother or lover? Did he meet an unfortunate death?

A huge fan of Krister and his partner Cecilia and also a lot of Nordic Noir but watched this earlier in the year and was a little bit disappointed.

Yeah, I like the term, Fem-Nazi, must use it more in conversation.

Scandic noir plots seems to rely a lot on mobile phones, close-ups of people's names on a ringing mobile, a mobile found with the dead body OR the dead person's mobile is missing, someone dials a number and an unknown mobile rings IN THE SAME HOUSE AS THE DIALLER, it's boring and cliched.

The lead female is a bit cute and reminds me of a British actress who i can't recall the name of. I could do without the man on man face sucking, but that's them Scandics for you, so bloody Liberal.

I've been slowly catching up with this - and have watched the first two episodes. It's typical Scandi-noir; elaborate plot, plenty of mysterious characters and nicely filmed. But I don't find the central characters that interesting. The plot in these sort of shows is often secondary to a compelling lead character or characters. Saga and Martin in The Bridge, Sarah Lund in The Killing. I've yet to get very interested in the main characters in this. I'll probably stick with it - as the story is intriguing - but it's not top drawer Scandi-noir.

Yep, the body count is not even keeping me interested really. The American assassin appears to have a smartphone for every hit, that means he has four or five more to do.

But smashing a young man's brains out against a wall is not exactly professional or tidy. And the convoluted same-sex relationships are indeed confusing as others have said.

While I am enjoying the series, for me, it is lacking in tension, and an air of menace.

Also, Melinda Kinnaman is not charismatic enough for a central character.

It's a bit meh for me. It is watchable, but nothing special. not comparable to Spiral, The Bridge, or The Killing.

Definite air of paint-by-numbers about it.

Weren't all of those commissioned ?
This really is just a one off based on Norwegian author Anne Holt's books about Vik .

That's very true about the prominence of mobile phones in Scandi dramas, now you mention it! Maybe they haven't got over the fact that Ericssons and Nokias no longer dominate the mobile market!

Thanks for lifting the fog but is worries me that I cannot see these plots as others, including yourself, do.
You are definitely not alone in that, don't worry!

I do think it's more difficult with foreign language drama. I have to properly concentrate. It isn't just the need to read subtitles (which means you're not 'locked on' to the faces quite so much) but also my lack of familiarity with foreign names makes it harder for me to 'file' the characters in my mind. I can remember Stine's name, but no-one else's at the moment . Add in to that fewer familiar faces amongst the actors and the fact you don't have extra references like regional or class accents to help and it all just adds to the confusion.
This explains it perfectly!

Bit surprised that the ex FBI lady was allowed to join a house search & interview a suspect without anyone batting an eyelid

Enjoying it but interested in comment above about the difficulties of remembering who is who in these dramas.

I had a lot of trouble with Trapped and similar problems with others. I'm glad I have an explanation now other than I'm just thick!

Is Trapped the Icelandic one? If it is, then I found that quite impenetrable at times; they were so wrapped up in thick clothes all the time, I couldn't recognise them!

That's the one, Bjarne Henriksen who played Theis Birk Larsen in the first season of The Killing was in it

I thought maybe the bishop's son had been born a girl or something
That was my thought too - he has a distinct look of a female trying to convince as male. I think it's the comedy moustache, it looks out of place

Need to catch up with latest episode so not reading the thread so apologies if this has already been mentioned. Private Eye have written an article in this week's edition on both Modus and the Passenger and are not that impressed. I must say I'm enjoying what I've seen so far but kind of agree with their observation that the plot lines are all too similar and cliche ridden with the genre.

Is it getting to the point where we have seen the cream of the nordic-noire genre and what we are left with is more run of the mill?

It certainly seems like it. Although it doesn't have to be Nordic noire. I'm sure other countries produce great series. Spiral is filming atm which is my overall favourite. Braquo which is brilliant plays on Fox I believe but I've stopped my sky contract so no joy there. I'm not sure if we're up to date with Young Montalbano.

Yes good foreign tv seems to be thinning out as far as the BBC is concerned but maybe they've got good things lined up for the winter months. Channel 4 No Offence starts in the new year and it seems like I've waited too long for that one.

As a change from foreign crime series I wish BBC4 would broadcast the Swedish series ' Arn The Knight Templar' starring Sofia Helin.
