They get a fee, the exact level is not widely known but has been described as just about enough to pay the mortgage for the duration of the process.

Yes I would not expect it to be much - I was thinking more of the type you have said - mortgage , utility bills etc. Because while in the process they are unable to generate income and for some that will be for a while

So many thanks for that.

this article states that it's round about £2,000, regardless of how far they make it into the competition. so if you get booted out early, at least you have a good £2k

That's really not much especially when some resign from their employment to participate.
It does go some way to understand why the average candidate is an out and out numpty though.

But tbf that is their choice and as Del Boy was fond of saying " He who dares, wins!"

I think that expenses and day to day things should be paid because while in the process they are unable to generate income. But other than that why should they. ?

Just getting in opens doors in many cases - even when they are not very bright

I understand that every time Karren mercilessly rips them apart without courtesy or validity they are awarded another £10,000 in lieu of an inevitably successful court case win for defamation of character.

Bearing in mind they aren't there 12 weeks would imagine the whole thing is filmed over about 6 so 2grand for six weeks isn't great but doesn't sound as bad

When I auditioned it was filmed over 2 weeks. And all you got was your expenses paid.

Which admittedly were fairly generous.

Did another game show on BBC1 and got about 300 quid for two days (between us).
