Why keep up this ridiculous pretence that the Results Show is live on Sunday. We all know it is recorded on Saturday and I think even Saturday's show is recorded. All the people in Strictly and ITT have to keep talking about last night's show etc . They must think we are all muppets out here.

This keeps coming up and is getting a bit tired now!

Give her her dues, Tess did refer to 'Saturday night' each time she spoke about the main show and the Saturday is not recorded but live, they only record group dances that may appear at the very beginning as the pro's would not have time to change, and other segments before and after the main show for Sunday's results show.

hear hear

just accept it and move on!

sunday isnt live but they have to refer to saturday as "last night" or "saturday" as the results show is on a sunday - makes perfect sense to me

dont think they have ever claimed or tried to pretend the results show was live

Without the Sunday show and a change of kit for the two presenters, we wouldn't have had the opportunity to see Tess's dress, made from her granny's tablecloth.

Do you know in the world of TV that bar the Bews the majority of shows are recorded?

In fact many shows are recorded months in advance, if not a year.

Some of the Saturday show like an opening group dance us recorded on Saturday afternoon, some acts are recorded then or actually a week or so in advance.

This is the real world of TV.

Now I would say 99% of this forum knows it's recorded on Saturday, in fact there is a well organised spoiler thread each week.

The BBC can't show a live results show Saturday night as it would clash with XF or Match of the days fixed start.

It would cost far too much to have a live show on Sunday night, this is the BBC , not ITV where they waste millions of £ 0n X Factor, with expensive hotel rooms and booking studios all weekend.

The performers and celebrities need a day off anyway.

Now referring to Saturdays or last nights show comments. This is TV, it actually would sound silly saying anything else, it wouldn't work.

You just need to relax and go with the flow, a little knowledge can harm enjoyment.

You do not need to gave in your mind, oh they record thus Saturday night, just see the DS ces enjoy the performances.

11 million enjoyed it last night, so it's not going to change and in fact the results show then props up the Sunday night BBC 1 schedule msking Countryfile to Planet Earth to the Sunday drama all get high viewing figures.

Strictly is an expensive BBC1 show by BBC standards it's cost of £18 million has to be used wisely.

That £18 million covers two weekend shows, brining in great value, and ITT and the children in need and Christmas specials, only they way can the BBC justify the cost.

Do you know Tuesday's ITT is recorded on Monday night? Does that bother you? Or the Christmas SCD is recorded on November 28th as no one wants to work on SCD on Christmas Day.

Why be so patronising?

To use a word of which you seem to be fond, as you have used it so many times when admonishing someone for a critical remark they've posted about someone on the telly,

This is "rude."

The point of which most people complain is the use of the phrase, "Last night..." when on Sunday they are referring to the main show.

So your just trying to come back using a prior word I have used, and not making any constructive comment. All you want to pod is the prior word I used even though it's completely out of context as anyone can see.

In fact my post is a full explaination it's not patronising.

You in a prior thread said.

" I have told you many times before" that was like you talking to me as a five yo.- that is patronising, and anyone could see that. My post isn't!

This is a full explanation of facts, something that often doesn't occur here with a few people's posts.

I notice it took you 4 minutes to come back on my post with a snide comment. You must sit here all day just waiting here for me to post.

Now Bruce has retired I don't know why they don't go back to having the results show live on Saturday evenings.

Ha! Ha!

Don't flatter yourself.

You've been exposed as a bit of a hypocrite and you don't like it.

I said "I've told you many times before," about unnecessarily calling people rude because I had.

Perhaps you'll now lay off on often calling people "rude" just because you object to their opinions.

I'm not sure it had anything to do with Bruce. One - and I do stress ONE - of the reasons the results show was changed to Sunday was because so many people complained that when the results show was shown later on the Saturday evening, it was too late for the younger viewers to watch. And it is, after all, possibly the only real family show on tv. Other reasons included scheduling of other Saturday night shows.

Yes, we all know the results show is recorded on Saturday, and shown on Sunday. And they all know we know. But is it really that important? Personally I couldn't care less if they refer to "last night's show" or "Saturday night...." I've far more important things to worry about!

I agree with OP we all know it's recorded, so I'd rather they refer to it as earlier or if they must "Saturday night" but not last night. It's also the embarrassing watching the participants say 'last night' knowing they've been told to say so.

Point is we all know it's recorded so there is no need for the pretence

I don't think it was anything to do with complaints, when have the BBC altered schedules because a few people complained?
People often complain to the BBC, (not me, I complain about them), but the numbers are small compared with the total numbers of viewers.

It was more the fact that Peter Fincham saw that they could fill an early evening slot on Sunday at a relatively inexpensive cost, which would also draw more viewers than some other programmes. What did it replace "Songs of Praise?" I can't remember.

No, you are the muppet for bringing this old chestnut up again. And the Saturday dances are recorded live, but the pro dances and singing "entertainers" are done earlier, as are the VTs which are needed to cover the set scenery and lighting changes. (And to give the band a breather.) So you put the results on Sunday, allowing the TV technicians extra time to cobble the recorded bits and post-show bits together, and it's an easier life all round.

It's just BBC practice to make the audience think they are watching something live. While breakfast TV is certainly live, we all know that the Queen's Speech on Christmas Day is recorded months earlier. The Christmas Strictly is always done 10 days earlier. Evening News Bulletins are prerecorded.
You have to make room for sporting fixtures on Saturday night, and no way could Strictly be allowed to displace Match of the Day.

If the bbc does not keep up the farce how can they expect the newspapers to carry on a news blackout about the show?

What bugs me is why the presenters and judges feel the need to change their outfits and hair in between shows?!

That's to give you the "impression" that it's made on a different day.

We know it isn't. They know we know it isn't. We know they know we know it isn't, but they still keep up the pretence.

As I said earlier, if they didn't have a change of outfits, we wouldn't have seen Tess in the dress she had made of her granny's tablecloth.

Do they move the audience around like they do on "A Question of Sport," where they record three shows one after the other?

Why does it bother you so much?

If you want to know the results earlier, then you can read spoilers.

A live show of that magnitude is not inexpensive to produce. Doing a live results show on Sunday would be expensive, logistically challenging and unnecessary.

Broadcasting the results show later on Saturday would result in a broadcast which people in the past have argued is too late for family viewing. And the BBC probably likes having their big ratings program on two nights in a row as opposed to a single night.

No one thinks anyone is a muppet. This is just how TV works sometimes. Who cares if people change their clothes? It's a different show. I don't have a problem if the presenters look different.

I know they finished filming The Missing months ago but I'm just going to have to wait until they actually show it.
Most TV isn't live.

The two shows fill a decent scheduling spaces.
Something on Saturday, something on Sunday.
For those who don't like Strictly, when Results show was also on Saturday, it rather dominated the evening's schedule

For pity's sake - there is no pretence that the Results Show is live! Everyone knows it's recorded but if reference was made to "earlier this evening" rather than "yesterday" or "Saturday night" it would make no sense at all. It is a perfectly reasonable compromise - the same audience who viewed the Saturday show is able to watch the results, And we, the people who fund the BBC do not have our money wasted by the cost of a second live show.

It's a nice touch that the presenters and judges dress differently - nobody is trying to con the audience - it just adds to the success of the Results Show IMHO, and allows me another Strictky fix on a Sunday.

The Sunday show arrangement suits me personally just fine. I record all the shows (a habit developed due to the irritating intrusion of the former presenter) and usually watch the Saturday one live, dip into the Spoiler thread when I think of it on Sat eve or Sunday morning, then watch the recording of the Sunday show on return from orchestral rehearsal as a nice way to simmer down. It doesn't matter that I know the dance-off results, I just enjoy the show.

Just demonstrates the value of switching off what I don't want to remember that I know, and just enjoying the present moment. It is possible to watch Strictly and enjoy the show for what it is - really, I speak true. A pitiful few have it in our genes or in our DNA to be able to watch TV sometimes without smashing our flat screens.

Exactly, answers some of the rude posters having a go at the OP .

Of course the reason they change their outfits is to carry on the pretence that it's another day .
