However i would say the "geniuses"are getting less customer friendly and more nerdy. Something that was not a reason for being hired in the past... despite most folk thinking thats who they hired. Definitely slipping a little. The store I visit - Festival Place - has always been crap but even AppleCare seems to be going backwards now. Like most of Apple under Cook unfortunately

But 10 years ago someone on the internet said they'd had bad experiences with AppleCare.
So how is it worse now than it was 10 years ago? (Assuming taking individual anecdotal experiences as some sort of gauge as to how good or bad AppleCare is a reasonable thing to do.) Only a few days ago someone on this very thread said they took their phone to Covent Garden for a battery replacement and they just replaced the phone there and then. Does this mean that AppleCare has gotten back to being pretty good since your experience? |

Of course my experience is anecdotal, I didn't claim to say it represented all of AppleCare of anyone else's experiences.
However, I think it is reasonably clear that under Cook Apple has gone backwards. |

Perhaps both my closest Apple Stores are at the better end of the customer service line for Apple, but I've yet to have a bad experience and invariably have got what I want from them (i.e. a replacement handset) without too much argument.

My AppleCare experience has been pretty good. I was getting a Macbook repaired, not a phone, but it was easy enough to get the person on the live chat to agree to it (I'd already said that I have done all the basics like resetting the SMC).
Also got them to replace the bottom cover FOC too which was nice. Two of the rubber feet had come off and it was a bit dented. DHL came to take it away the next day, Apple's contractor repaired and sent it back inside a week, with emails saying what they were doing, parts ordered etc. Very happy. |

Whenever I've tried to get a Mac repaired by post-in they've always said it's not possible and that I have to take it in.

Well called Apple B'ham this morning the minute they opened, told them it had been 11days and no one has got back to me....guy put me on hold and 5seconds later I get an email saying "your part has arrived".
Guy came back on the phone "you should have got an email. Your battery came in a few days ago so you're free to come in". I wanted to have a go at him and say "why the hell didn't you tell me that when the damn thing came in" but decided to just keep cool. Went in at 1pm, dropped off my phone and left, all within 5mins. Came back at 3:30pm, picked up my phone with a new battery in and off I went. Their service is pretty horrible, I can't believe people are happy with them but it is what it is. Hopefully I never have to visit them again ![]() Already noticed some differences with the battery, lasting a lot longer now. Will give it 2days or so before deciding if it's any good but so far it seems to be ok. |

That was me I'm a long time owner of Apple Products and this is probably only my 2nd time of having an issue and I was really impressed with the level of service I got from the Covent Garden Store - I have only one complaint with the company and that's they discontinued the iPod classic |

I took my 6S to an Apple dealer On Friday 2nd Dec. They got a new battery in on Tuesday 6th and I picked the phone up on Wed 7th. Happy with that service.

Out of the blue, my just two-months old iPhone 6s suddenly showed thin black streaks across the screen and then rebooted. Not happened before or since. Could that be something to do with this problem?

Going by what you've said yours is doing something different? If its only 2months old just go to an Apple store and they'll sort it free or charge, may have to book an appointment online first though. |

My phone has been doing this for about a year and after a couple of trips to the Apple Store over the last 12 months and being told my battery is in good health, I was happy to see this in the news last month.
Last week I popped in without an appointment, they checked the serial and ordered me a new battery straight away. Got an email a few days later saying the battery had arrived so I popped back in store (again without an appointment) waited about 5 mins for someone to come and collect my phone and it was ready within a couple of hours. Great service and my battery is finally operating as it should. Woo! |

What's wrong with the new MBP? AFAIK it's been selling as well as, if not better than previous models. Isn't there quite a bit of innovation still? Or is "innovation" just defined as "entirely new product" or "radically different looking product" these days? Sometimes Apple can't really win - the touch bar on the MBP is simultaneously innovative and just a pointless gimmick. What has changed about the MacPro in the last couple of years? |

Got my iPhone back from having the battery replaced via the mail option. They said it would take around 1 week from sending the phone off to when I got it back and it was spot, got it back exactly after a week, can't fault that really considering how many people were sending their phones in.
So far so good on the battery front, had it down to about 15% yesterday with no signs of the phone randomly shutting off. The battery life is much better too, it doesn't suddenly drain like it did before either, normal service resumed it seems, very happy now ![]() Just to let people know aswell, they removed my screen protector so I lost that! Not sure why they removed it. I think they don't just fix the issue they check the whole phone for any other problems at the same time, maybe one of those checks is the screen? Hence why they removed my screen protector? Not too bothered anyway as it was only a cheap £3 one. Just a heads up incase you've got an expensive glass protector etc. Also they say you've got a 90 day warranty on the phone after the battery is replaced, so if your Apple warranty for the phone is anything less than 90days then you will get the 90days, also it's not just for the battery it's for the whole phone I was told. Since they were the last ones to open up the phone they said it's covered for any faults as they opened up the phone, I guess it's if they've accidentally damaged something without realising etc. Quite good that they offer that for peace of mind. |

Not heard anyone who actually bought a new MBP (including me) having a problem with the lack of innovation in it. It works like it should, you need a dongle or two but the machine is worth it. End of review.
