Better Storylines

The storylines since the summer have been fantastic, and as a result we have had plenty of interweaving storylines. Kylie's murder, Anna's burns, Ken's stroke, Phelan/Vinny, Maria/Caz (Despite being unpopular on here), were all mostly kept secret and have been a pleasure to watch.

Characters

There is a far greater mix. The Barlows are fantastic currently, and I'm loving the likes of Todd, Sarah and Gemma, for example, and I can not wait for the returns of Toyah and Rosie. I like how the older cast are also being utilised more.

Writing and Direction

This has improved significantly. The dialogue is far stronger and there now seems to be a sense of time on the show. Episodes are now even carried on from the previous, which wasn't often under Blackburn, with each episode being a brand new day, which could become tedious.

Corrie is now my favourite soap once again and currently the best out of the big three in my opinion. I look forward to the rest of Kate Oate's reign. Onwards and upwards!

Yes, the last week or so has been great. The one weak spot for me is the Caz and Maria plot but, thankfully, it looks like that's gonna come to an end in the next few weeks. Loving the new family dynamic at the Barlows and can't wait to see them in action at Christmas.

Yes,it's certainly on the up and has been for a while now. It's the one I was actually looking forward to tonight.

The Maria/Caz stuff isn't the best, but at least we actually have some gritty storylines now that have a clear direction.

And yes I agree! I'm loving Daniel. What a great signing!

I agree. Emmerdale just seems to have gone far too over the top lately, and EE I am finding dull and boring (Though tonight was alright).

Every single cliffhanger on Corrie tonight was good. Some great camera angles too!

It's much better on the whole. Still loses it in places but it's improving steadily.

For the first time in ages, I actually enjoyed tonight's offering. Well maybe enjoy is a little much - I never got bored anyway.

Defo agree, it flowed in places and the writing was tighter and sharper than what we've witnessed months ago.

I watched all three soaps tonight and it's definitely in the best shape out of them all.

I think Corrie is back at the top where it belongs.
Far and away the best soap of the moment.

Not in any way it is the best soap. Emmerdale is at the moment. Corrie has a lot of work to do before even thinking about being best soap again.

They are doing well with the characters I agree there. Is it fully confirmed that Toyah and Rosie return? i've only heard people saying they want them to but that's it

I think Corrie has got a bit better and Eastenders has gone downhill. Emmerdale is my top soap at the moment

It is confirmed Matthew, yes!! Toyah returns in the Christmas day episode I think, Rosie in the new year, but Rosie's is only a short three month stint I think!!

This is all we've really been told so far!!

Well I'm getting on a bit and prefer Corrie as it used to be - with much more gentle humour. These days it is Eastenders lite.

I agree it is improving. Continuity is still an issue... has everyone forgotten Maria?

Corrie needs to rediscover it's identity and rich history, which the writing for Brian, Roy and Gemma is starting to do.

I don't think the Caz story is working. Samia Ghadie has been good in the role, she hasn't had anything to do for years, but the story just doesn't ring true to me.

The renewal of the Barlows is fantastic. They are a backbone of Coronation Street and it's great to see the writing for Tracy mellow again. They hinted at it when Deirdre died but then it just reverted to the Tracy V Carla dross.

Definitely on the up but a long way to go...

Corrie has improved a lot recently. Was enjoying the Gemma/Peter Andre stuff last night, was light relief from the Phelan storyline.

she just seems all same old same old to me

Emmerdale is my favourite but its the worst of the three at the moment. The way Emmerdale is going right now is back to third place I'm afraid

Same here, I love Emmerdale but the utterly stupid and farcical stuff they're coming up with with Kerry makes a complete mockery of anything worthwhile.

I'm actually enjoying it at the moment. I loved it when Phelan realised Vinny had conned him.

It's been much better lately. I really like the Pat Phelan character and the actor - he did a great job last night.

I also like Sarah, Anna, David, all good actors.

Not sure about the Maria/Caz story. It's like she's been arrested for murder but no-one has bothered to look for the victim!
