What's the point of ITT

I tuned in specially to hear about the unprovoked attack on Gorka and when Alijaz was a guest I thought we would have a first hand account of what happened .
What do we get about the incident, nothing .

The same when Will Young left unexpectedly, I thought we would get some info on ITT, again nothing .

The same when Anastasia had her melt down and Bruno decided to quit, again no mention on ITT .

Yet the Gorka assaut is on the BBC radio news bulletins and on BBC tv .

Why do ITT treat their viewers as if we're all 5 yr olds and mustn't hear about anything bad, especially on the lovely, fluffy SCD .

Well perhaps Gorka does not want it discussed. I wouldn't. Its a horrible thing to happen. Why do you want a first hand account very strange.

No controversies allowed.

It's probably because the producer of ITT has to go to a big boss in the BBC before running anything controversial, so it takes a day to make a decision.

I also thought we should have had mention of Gorka but Christopher D has a point. Gorka might not want to make any more of it. After all, the police weren't involved. It was the same with Will Young, who made it clear that he wasn't going to say anything more about his departure. As for Anastacia and Bruno, I'm not convinced that ever happened. The anti-BBC tabloids are constantly running stories which seem to come to nothing.
Remember, ITT did have Len on last year in the wake of Jamelia-gate, so things aren't that bad.

If one was going to do a "first hand" piece about the Gorka incident you would need to interview Gorka. Zoe wasn't there nor were the ITT editors et al. So the only people who can give a "first hand account" are Aliajz, Neil and Gorka. And really the only account that matters is Gorka's. But as he spent the afternoon in a dentist's chair it maybe he didn't feel much like doing an on air post mortem, even if the anesthetic had worn off by 6.30.

and IIRC Steve and Ola addressed and denied the bullying rumours on ITT in 2014, so they don't alway steer away from controversy.

I personally don't mind ITT, but I don't watch it every week, and I feel it does border on overkill. Maybe it would be better to have it only 2 or 3 days a week instead of every night.

Stop being so sensible.
Glad the bandwagon had no room for you.

I think given the way it's going, many of us are of that opinion now.

As Alijaz was a witness his account would probably be more accurate . Poor Gorka probably didn't know what hit him .

If it's a criminal investigation, then they possibly cant discuss it.

The BBC 6 O Clock news had a full report on it (which I thought a little excessive to be honest) so I doubt it's that. I thought it was a bit off to not at least incorporate a Get Well Soon message in to the show, but It Takes Two has never really been a platform for the pros to discuss their ongoing personal lives in any great detail, so I wasn't surprised we didn't have a full piece.

Gorka is now a celeb on one of the most popular programmes on the BBC so whether he wants it discussed or not, it will be . The incident will be on every media outlet and people will be made aware worldwide .

I find your question very strange . An unprovoked attack on an innocent individual is appalling as it could happen to anyone of us . I'm trying to make some sense of why some person would try to do harm to an unknown stranger, and maybe Alijaz being there could throw some light on it .

Aah. So Aljaz is a mind reader now. He can delve into that persons mind and reveal all. Why they senselessly carried out an unprovoked attack.

The rumour is that Niel, Aljaz, and Gorka were together when the attack happened.

If a police investigation is underway there is no way that any TV programme is going to have an in-depth interview with one of the witnesses

A witness to any crime won't necessarily know why an assailant would try to do harm to an unknown stranger. Remember that in real life - unlike on t'internet - people don't acquire medical qualifications simply by witnessing something. Including TV shows.

Even a 'Get Well Soon' message might not make it past the lawyers in case it might prejudice the investigation/course of justice.

There's also the element of 'none of (y)our business' - which also applies to the other occasions you've mentioned.

I wouldn't have tuned into ITT 'expecting' any of the things you've listed. For the above reasons. Nothing to do with fluffiness or any of the other things you suggest.

So because you didn't get a need for rubbernecking satisfied, there's no point to the entire show?

Leave it be. The police are probably working on the case and don't need an entertainment chat show chattering away about it. (They probably don't need the tabloids to do the same thing, but you know tabloids. They couldn't shut up if they tried.)

Strictly wouldn't be Strictly without ITT!

I get to know the dancers and celebs so much better than if I just watched the weekend show.

The awful thing that happened to Gorka was on the news, its being investigated by the Police and people can send their best wishes to Gorka through his twitter account. I don't feel the need to hear the gory details on ITT.

No sadness allowed on planet ITT.
Only squealing and excitement.

ITT is best recorded and skipped through, avoiding the increasingly more padded out bits. At least it gives Ian Waite and Karen Hardy a job.

I agree! I just skip through ITT and the show on saturday...it has lost the must see appeal for me.

Did you expect a Dentist's Drill special, after the News At Ten bongs.Cue Peter Snow all gloved up with the surgical mask for in-depth information on dental implant surgery and the swingometer to guess which way Gorka would twitch before the anaesthetic kicks in.
I think I preferred Animal Hospital with Rolf.

I enjoy it. Gives me a chance to wind down after work and I like finding out more about the celebs and what goes on behind the scenes. I also really like Zoe.

It's a show about dancing, not a show about the contestants personal lives.

To be fair ITT does touch on the celebs and pro's personal lives when it suits them. We've had Anton's impending fatherhood mentioned (he was congratulated on the show). We've had Pros congratulated on their weddings and engagements and on one of the episodes they actually asked two of the pros where they went on their first date etc. which has nothing to do with dancing.

I don't think that ITT needed to go into any detail of what happened, but they could have simply said "Best wishes to Gorka" etc. like they did when Brendan was ill earlier in the season. It just makes it appear as though Gorka doesn't matter.
