Emmerdale killing Jimmy?
Matthewrox
22-11-2016
Just the way it's always gone for his family, at least the original bunch anyway. What do we think here - do we like the guy and want him around for years yet, or is it about time for Jimmy to meet his king?
I would say it happens in 3 years or 6 at most (that is when the 50th anniversary takes place) so he's not in the immediate fireing line but not someone whos going to go on to grow old in the village

I like Jimmy - he's just a normal bloke, no real drama. So I'd like him to stick around.

Jimmy should stick around, I would hate to see him killed off just for a stunt plot or just to fulfil some morbid all the King men died nonsense.

With older, longer more established characters leaving like Betty or other sadly passing away like Edna and Alan Turner.

The village needs new "lifers" people who are in it for the long haul and I think Jimmy fits that role really well.

I still like Jimmy I just wish they would fix him and Nicola, they were a great couple but they have been written to have so many problems they are a shadow of their former selves.

Jimmy is the last surviving King brother, so to kill him off after losing three of his brothers (and his father, Tom) would be a sad end to this family.

I think that Jimmy is a likeable character with a caring nature, and would love to see him get ahead of the game for once, and be more of a success (and also to be a man who doesn't get as "walked over" by people as he seems to) in the future.

Jimmy has unfortunately become more and more of a melt over the years, a ridiculous version of Homer Simpson. Unless they can turn him around I think he's disposable. I used to like Jimmy

Yes, yet another emasculation, henpecked and treated like a lumbering idiot by wifey.

There's still lovely, smiley Scarlett out there somewhere.

I hope not, poor Scarlett if that happens she's already lost her father Tom and three of her four brothers (Max, Matthew and Carl) and if Jimmy dies as well that would mean her only sibling left would be Lexi.

I recall Tom flying through a window but not Belle singing a carol

They need to write Jimmy and Nicola out or reinvent their characters. I've thought it'd be interesting if Jimmy found out he had a grown son and grand kids, that kind of lead him into rebuilding the King dynasty and started acting more like Tom.

Hands up, somehow Scarlett did slip my mind - it would be nice if she was mentioned every now and then as she is Jimmys family (or brought back in some storyline in the future)? Last time she was on tv was "The Voice" a few years ago, so maybe Kelsey-Beth Crossley prefers singing nowadays.

I assume you use 'singing' very loosely.

I'm in total agreement with both of you.
Pairing Jimmy and Nicola was Nick Miles' idea. Maybe we need more input from him.

I quite like Jimmy. I'm not keen in the comedy stories, like the pirate ship nonsense or the constant splitting up/ getting back together stories Nico and him get though. I see him as I view Bob - a nice guy who's s a kind of stalwart if the village, while all around him are doing mad things!

He's too much the clown these days.

Often Nico speaks to him the way Michelle was criticised for speaking to Steve in Corrie.

I think the difference is Nicola has always been very abrasive and forthright and at times downright nasty- with everyone, she doesn't just reserve her special brand of behaviour for Jimmy- in fact Jimmy is probably one of the few people who actually gets to glimpse Nicolas softer moments.

Jimmy has been one of my favourites for years now. You need characters like Jimmy and you need characters that stick around for a long time. Emmerdale has been the best at keeping their characters for a while now. They have so many that have been around for a long time.

Jimmy's legendary and a great asset to the show.

Jimmy is by no means what you would call handsome, but when he smiles his whole face lights up. I love him.
