Still getting emails on old phone

I have just changed my phone and have taken the sim card from the old phone all the data on the old phone was transfered to new one and that is fine.What I cannot understand is why I am still getting emails on the old phone even though there is no sim card in it can anyone explain please as I want to give the old phone to a charity shop.

Turn off the WiFi. It is likely that even without a SIM it will still operate over WiFi with your home broadband.

Oh and it goes without saying that you should do a full Factory Reset on the phone before it leaves your possession.

if you are going to give your phone away - I'd strongly recommened doing a factory reset. Without doing so you will likely be giving away your personal data and photos.

Emails come over the Internet, and have nothing to do with your mobile number or your SIM card.
