How are people chosen for the Bush Telegraph

It seems as if the same ones appear there. Can you just go in there and start talking or do the producers decide?

I imagine people are told to go in and speak on a subject given to them. The producers then decide what goes on air.

I can understand that but it doesn't explain who gets chosen to do the 'running commentary' type entries.

I suppose it's whoever Scarlett opens her front door for.

Its the producers who decide. They will tell whoever they want to film, tell them what to talk about and then edit it into the show.

It feels very disjointed. Because if the most inane thing happens it feels like the producers call them into the Bush Telegraph to tell us about it.

For example, the celebrities have something to eat and one of them says it's very chewy.
IAC calls them all into the Bush Telegraph one by one and asks them "So the meat was very chewy was it? Tell us about it?"
One of them says it was like rubber, one of them says it wasn't their best meal, one of them says it was okay etc.
Then IAC must makes the decision "Let's use that celebrity saying it was like rubber, and one or two of the others who said it was chewy. That will make riveting television for our viewers".

Surely it must operate something like that?
And when you break it down it seems so shit.
But if they get the viewers and it works you can't really blame them.

It must be for the benefit of the viewers who are so thick that they've forgotten what they've just seen, so they need to ask the celebrities to explain to us again what just happened. I'm sure it must be of some benefit to someone.

Bear this in mind when you watch an episode and you'll see how ludicrous it is.

It seems to be always Scarlett now when at first it was Carol.
So boring hearing the drivel from the same ones about what we have just seen.

I think they show whoever is the most enthusiastic, Scarlett seems to find even the most mundane things absolutely extraordinary, "the chewy meat was ****ing mint man"

It is the same as last year they have a chosee one and the rest at support Acts.

I'm A Celeb has been like this for years.

You've got a bunch of famous (or not so famous) people together in a jungle 24 hours a day. We get shown highlights from some argument that took place at 7pm. Nobody gets to see what happened at 5pm.

It's a bit like Big Brother. 24 hours stuck in a house and the viewers will only be shown what the producers want to show. So in both cases, you're never going to get the full picture of what is really happening.

I spoke to David Gest about this when I met him around six month after he had been in the jungle he said that most went into the hut near the end of the day and asked about their day and things that had happened but there were some who spent a lot of time in there (he wouldnt say who)

So I guess they ask questions and edit bits they want together
like the hut edit after Martins trial they ask each celeb about it and they answer then they show Martin telling his story and edit celebs response as though they came to the hut straight after to give their opinion

BTW David Gest was a really lovely man who loved to tell tall tales

Linda Robson said on Loose Women they get called into the bush telegraph. She said the same people got called in. She was laughing though and said she never got called in and funnily enough she was first camp mate out!!

Carol has basically seen her bush telegraph time halved since the start of the series.

Scarlett seems to have an opinion about everything so no wonder she gets favoured.

I would bet Scarlett has featured at least three times more than anyone else.

Of course she has, just like Vicky last year . Producers pets.

Chosen One = hut time

It's a simple equation.

I loathe the hut and the grooming device for the producer's favourite that it's become.

The rest of the camp must realise that she is favoured by the amount of times she is called to the Hut.

I reckon they all get called in in a set time of day (probably near bed time) and get a set of questions about different things that have happened throughout the day, which are then strategically edited into the relevant time points of the topic in the episode.

They could all be done, 5 minutes each, in this manner.

... The bush telegraph is never just after the event happened. As trialists always have clean clothes etc when recounting the trial. I think it's evening anecdotes and set questions.

Good point.

Either that or it's always "open" and they can choose to go in there to say something, leaving the editors the pick of what they like from the bits and bobs.

I think my previous suspicion is closer to the mark though.

Tonight they had eel for supper.

IAC calls everybody in turn to the Bush Telegraph.

"I thought that there'd be more meat on it"

"It's more bony than you'd think it'd be"

"I don't like eels"

"I thought that after 12 stars we'd have a steak each"

Tune in for tomorrow night's show where you can be fascinated by more celebrities' riveting observations and insightful comments about nothing.

It's quite something if some of them spend ages in there and that's the best that IAC can get out of them.

I miss David. One of the very best to appear on reality television. And one who most had many preconceptions about before he went into the show but were pleasantly surprised by.

I think the point we worked out which ones were favoured due to Bush Telegraph time was when they had that Matt Willis in the show and it was so obvious he was going to do well due to the amount of time they gave him providing the viewers with a running commentary as if he was the narrator of the show.

Probably a mixture of both.
